While I found most of the detective stories interesting, it was like the book was trying to be too clever. When we leave the stories and hear from Julia & Grant, it is strange that Grant doesn't recall why he wrote the stories the way he did. For me, this became repetitive & boring quickly. I partially guessed the ending, but the rest of it was not shocking or thrilling.

Needs a bit of an introduction & it's hard to keep following in some parts. However, the last stages of the book are so good! Very unexpected and a dramatic plot twist

Detective meta-ficiton. A woman reads 7 short murder mysteries back to their original author as they discuss how each one fits into the "mathematical rules" of the mystery genre.
Very well executed, with each short story being a recognizable twist on a famous mystery story (if you read a lot of Christie).
The ending was a pleasant surprise, and deviated from what I had been expecting all along.
