O. K... Závěr vyšuměl do ztracena a žádný šok se nekoná. Málo baletu, moc líbání. Jako guilty pleasure docela v pohodě.

This was a great read. The storyline was really good. I found the book engaging and I also thought it had a bit of a Pretty Little Liars feel to it, except in the world of ballet. There was a bit of a romance, but it did not overpower the story. Although, it was more of a battle of who would get the boy. The main characters were really intriguing, yet a bit ruthless. The ending was a bit confusing. I have never read a book with as many cliffhangers as this book. Overall, an interesting read.

WOW.

This book was just...brilliant. I loved every moment of it, from the characters to the gentle chaos to the full-blown chaos within the walls of a prestigious ballet conservatory. The writing style was beautiful, at once heartbreaking and concise, with incredible worldbuilding and description. The idea of a picture-perfect group of ballet dancers each hiding dark secrets was executed just right. The characters definitely weren't the flawless images they project onstage.

June? She only cares about her own success, smirking at the other girls' failures while struggling with bulimia. Bette? She's not her prima ballerina sister or the perfect blond girl everyone thinks she is, but she's willing to do anything to live up to those expectations. I love to hate that girl. And Gigi? She's the sweet, elegant girl who is pushed one—or three—too many times, growing slowly more paranoid about everything around her.

There were so many issues and topics covered in this book, but they kept the pages flying fast and my suspense mounted high. Truly a stellar book with a cliffhanger that nearly killed me (and someone else in the book...). I can't wait to continue this journey in the sequel.

“The moment you think you're on top is the moment you've lost your passion.”

Trigger warnings : racism, eating disorders (bullimia, anorexia...), bullying, homophobia, dubious consent, hints to sexual assault and pedophilia..

Honestly, this was enjoyable but at the same time there were so many things that made it just... meh. The development for both romances (Alec and Gigi as well as June and Jayhe) is flat and inexistant. It literally starts out of nowhere, and even though I can tell there is chemistry, I didn't fall for them as much as I thought I would.

Apart from Alec and Gigi, I couldn't stand any of the characters, most of all Bette and June. They're all irritating, cruel and backstabbing assholes. But I guess that's the point of the whole story.

I did like the mystery around it all, which, I have to admit, saved this book from being a total fail, and I am kind of excited to read the second book and see how it all unfolds after that ending.

Once I saw the Netflix trailer I knew I wanted to read it first.

Quick thoughts:
- It was engaging & held my attention as an audiobook.
- I thought the end wrapped up too quickly & with too many loose ends to be satisfying.
