An enjoyable continuation of this series. Some touching and tender moments. But i have to admit, i found myself enjoying this more for the development of Caine and Macklins characters than the characters the story was actually about. It was lacking in passion, and there were no real steamy scenes - just a few tender kisses. And while sex scenes are not required to write a good romance, i just found that without at least one between them the story fell short for me and i found their interactions feeling a little flat. Still an enjoyable read though. I just personally would have preferred that the romance factor was ramped up a little more.

I really enjoyed this even though there was absolutely no sex whatsoever and that is unusual for me.

As I said in one of my updates this series is like wrapping yourself in a soft comfortable blanket when the weather's chilled outside. You know what you're getting, the cast of characters while ever expanding are familiar old friends, the angst levels provide sufficient conflict without sending my heart into overdrive because I know everything will turn out fine in the end.

My only complaint, and it reared its head on several occasions, is that Sam didn't act like a 36 year old. I certainly didn't see him as Neil's older brother. And his behaviour with the kitchen was almost child like. In my head he was 25/26 tops.

That aside I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to Lang Downs. I've got one more book to read, but I'm going to save that for another time.
