Millar is awful guy, and you can tell from this book. Doesnt mean its not fun to read though - the ending dips a little bit but theres still quite a bit to enjoy if you were already having fun. Kick-Ass is a strong 4.25/5 of a book as a whole I think - does exactly what it intends and pretty well, but rarely transcends to true greatness.

Kick Ass Re-Read: Part 3
This is just so fun, it's just so entertaining. Everything about the plot is brilliantly crafted and just layered to perfection, with cool callbacks and is everything fans want out of the end of the 'Dave Era' of Kick Ass. The final fight scene for ONCE didn't feel rushed and it genuinely as built to and was executed really well.
Again, Hit Girl continues to be a standout character. I was also struck by a familiar feeling upon re-reading this, and that was that Dave is weirdly really dislikable in this chapter. Like he comes across as everything he wasn't in the previous chapters, all because a girl 'distracts' him. It's very confusing, and out of character of him, but that's just my personal take.
Additionally, I thought the character of Rocco was really not needed, he was just a very basic villain, that was just a copy and pasted version of his brothers from book 1 and the Hit Girl Prelude... Oh wait except he's gay, and believes having sex with men makes you more of a man. As a Gay man I found this to be a really strange yet interesting mindset for a gay villain to have, but it's just not explored enough, and he ends up being very one-dimensional. Overall, I would have preferred Vic and the other corrupt officers aka The Skull and Bone's to be the antagonist for this final book, to me it would have just made more sense.
Overall, this was an okay entry, I still prefer the Book 2, but this would come a close second in my opinion.
If I were to rank my enjoyment of the series now it would probably be.
1. Kick Ass 2
2. Kick Ass 3
3. Hit Girl: The Prelude
4. Kick Ass
All are subjective, but I found myself realising this series is very much tinted by nostalgia. I used to regard this as the greatest graphic novel series of all time but I have since read such incredible pieces of work, that I now no longer hold that opinion. But it was very much a fun re-read and killed a couple of hours of isolation!

Better than the second volume, at par with the first one.

Wow, what an awful conclusion. The entire thing was on the level of that one cutscene in God Of War 3 where Kratos thinks he has found redemption by hugging his family, right before smashing the shit out of the skull of his father. We learned nothing, violence was the answer, we were awesome, we would do it again. Great stuff.
Well, up until now my ratings were reflective of my overall passivity towards the damn thing, and I was entertained. But yeah, looking back at it, I would not recommend the series. Unless you just read it as entertainment or whatever. But I don't know, if you're this desperate to see traumatized kids killing people, just go read Locke & Key instead...
