This being the second book I've read by David Sodergren, I can tell you one thing for certain... he sure knows how to write characters that you just want to punch in the face!!!
This would have been rated with four stars had it not been for Paul and Ricky.

Sodergren has done it again. Insuring that I will continue through his catalogue of blood, guts, madness, and fucked up penis’. The Forgotten Island starts as a solid vacation horror, but thoroughly morphs into a heart pounding cosmic creature feature. Think if Crichton stepped into a telepod but a lil’ buzzing Lovecraft slipped in just before teleporting.

Most of the characters in this book are misogynistic SA type assholes, but the story does not allow for that to ever feel fine or acceptable in the slightest. They are disgusting and will have the disgusting day they deserve. However, you will have to persevere through the cringe of their occasional perspectives. Luckily it wasn’t too hard because of how much I loved the main protagonist Ana and her sister Rachel.

(If you have a fear of spiders…fuckin’ buckle up)

This one might give me nightmares. But also - David, are you okay? This is the third book of yours I’ve read, and the third book with graphic penile destruction. At this point I’m going to be disappointed if it doesn’t happen in all of your books.
