I read the first awhile ago and almost gave up on the series. I am glad I gave it another chance. This book was great. If you like J R Ward's books then I think you will enjoy this series.

I very much enjoyed this book again! I love how Lara made this world, and how it all intertwines. Dante is hot hot hot and Tess is a great heroine!!! This sets us the next book in the series perfectly and I am very much looking forward to Teagan's book!

I enjoyed KISS OF CRIMSON a lot more than I remembered. The world of the Breed gets a lot more complicated in this one but I enjoyed seeing more parts of this society and how it all functions. The addition of Sterling Chase was interesting but also heartbreaking considering what he's going through. I loved both Dante and Tess and while their relationship is anything but easy it was a joy to read about. I really liked Tess who's strong, independent, and a fighter. Dante was also great and even though he doesn't want a Breedmate in his life he can't stay away. He's the quintessential dangerous alpha who fights falling the whole way down, but once he does he's completely devoted.

If I had anything to complain about, it's how isolated and sheltered the women are in the Breed. I especially want more from the warrior's Breedmates, Savannah and Gabrielle, who appear to just have given up their entire lives to live underground in the Warriors compound.

Content Warning: Reference to sexual abuse by a family member; non-consensual blood drinking; Dante sleeps with someone else after meeting the heroine

Holy Moses on a pogo stick

Elle's new catchphrase, #justsaying.

I need to start off by mentioning something I really love about Lara Adrian. She just isn't afraid to give readers a healthy dose of reality and angst in her books. Although I am a complete sap and prefer everything to be pink, fluffy and glittery, life is not that. Lara Adrian isn't afraid to make people suffer, or even die, and that is a great thing! It adds so much to this series!

I really loved this book. Like, really loved it. Dante & Tess where such good characters but there was just something about it that made it impossible for me to give it 5 stars. The plot was a little 'eh' at times and as much as Dante and Tess where lovely together, neither of them where truly lovable separately. As much as I loved it, I don't think I could read it again either.

I would of loved to see more of the breed. This book seemed to be solely focused on Dante or Tess 98% of the time and what little other character development we got was Chase. I really loved Chase and I kinda wanted him together with Elise (who needed a good slap in my opinion. didn't have an ounce of sympathy for her which i suppose makes me a horrible person).

Actually now that I'm babbling on I think it was the lack of other characters that let this book down (shush, i have a thought process). At times it seem Adrian shoved in other characters, like Rio, to remind us there where other people in the Breed. They felt like fillers, more so than an actual part of Dante's story.

The ending didn't surprise me really. I knew that Chase had to be the one and that by that stage there was no real option for him to do anything other than what he did, but after all the talk about recruiting at the start, I was kind of hoping that they'd ask him to come back.

The last scene between Dante & Tess also made me want to punch something. It was just so sweet, which was something that I didn't really think their relationship was capable off. Neither of them where sweet people and although they clearly cared for each other, there was no need for the syrupy dialogue.

All that being said, I can't wait to continue on with this series.

I have read Kiss of Crimson at least twice since discovering the Breed. Evil is growing in Boston. Young Dark Haven males are getting addicted to a drug known as Crimson. The longer they use it the more they are at risk of becoming rogue.

Dante is one of the warriors that has pledged to eliminate the threat. An encounter leaves him injured and he escapes to a Vet Clinic run by Tess. After a chance meeting with the vet, Dante soon discovers that his heart is at more of a risk that his life fighting the rogues.

Kiss of Crimson is packed with suspense. Danger oozes from the pages. Denial and fear wraps around Tess. Dante has his work cut out for him. Protect Tess. Protect Boston. Get Tess to accept him as her mate and as a vampire.

10/25/22 binging the series, loved listening to Kiss of Crimson again.
