I had high expectations of this but it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped. Dean spent way too much time inner monologuing the same thing over and over for the first part of the book, and then Fitz thought everything would miraculously be solved with a marriage proposal. Worst part? It actually worked. I still don’t see why getting hitched would solve anything that one of them relenting to move continents wouldn’t. But apparently I was the only one. It still felt a bit meh to me that Fitz wouldn’t even consider moving for Dean.

This thing had like five epilogues too, which was not necessary. There was even a chapter for Maeve, which I skipped, because I do not care about her MF romance woes. It had no place in this book. I didn’t understand a lot about this, it seems.

That being said, I thought Fitz and Dean were very sweet together. There was sweetness and pining, so I did have a good time reading for the most part.

This book had a lot of things that I love about gay romance. Like a hockey player and a british bloke and a whirlwind fling that changes everything.

Dean is a bar owner in London. He has one rule. Never hook up with a costumer. It's a distraction and, anyway, the prospect of love is not worth it.
Fitz is a hockey player in New York helping his sister settle in London. He's a player with one last week before training camp where he's not allowed to play around anymore.

And when Fitz walks into Dean's bar... it's instant chemistry. They flirt, they enjoy the company. But Dean's determined not to break his rule. And Fitz is persistent too. He want the bartender more than anything.

Their whirlwind fling in London is exciting and tells the story of two man breaking their own rules because when love comes along there's no going back.

The book talks about how there is so much more than chemistry when it comes to Dean and Fitz. They just fit and it's scary as hell for both of them because they have lives a world apart.

The very thing that was their safeguard against falling into a relationship is now the obstacle that breaks them apart. And it takes a lot of thinking for both of them to realise what is the most important thing. Because a love like this, though it arrived lightning fast, doesn't go away easily.

Both characters were amazing. Fitz with his charm and I-know-what-I-want attitude and Dean with his wit and sarcasm is a grat match. They challange each other they make each other laugh. They are just happy together.

The ending was a bit long for me. Most of the drama went down around 80% and then it was just fluff. It was bit much.

But still, a lovely romance and funny characters.

God this one was a struggle and I have no idea why. The audio cast was pretty good but the story fell really flat for me. Sigh.

Romance at its best!!!
Absolutely fantastic M/M debut for Lauren Blakely! Fitz and Dean are just amazing characters and their love story will leave you wanting more from them. I loved every minute of these guy’s journey, absolutely adored their flirting and all their sexy banter. Fitz’s sincerity and forwardness mixed with the right amount of sexy and cocky attitude made him the perfect man to break Dean’s rules. The chemistry between them was unreal and the sex scenes were what you would expect from any Lauren Blakely book. Hot. Hot. Hot!

Lauren Blakely's first foray into M/M romance was 100% spot on. From dialogue that was super sharp and witty to characters who instantly connected with me and each other. I was hooked. And what made it even better was that it was wicked hot and fun. Furthermore, every little detail from the way it was plotted and paced to the outstanding minor characters just added to it, and truly made it a joy to read.

Would highly recommend as this is the best Lauren Blakely book I've read to date, and one of the best M/M books I've read this year.

This was very light and fluffy, low angst. Professional hockey player from New York visits London, has fling with bar owner. They both declare its no-strings. They both fall in love. Not deep, but sweet and funny and worth reading if that's what you're in the mood for.
