I am a huge fan of dialogue. I love snarky, fast-paced back and forth. And this book is a prime example of that. Alice Winters’ writes fantastic dialogue. She does a fantastic job of making me laugh, yet can still be serious. I mean, not Leland, but that’s a different matter. Leland’s not serious about anything except his love for his guns… and Jackson.

Leland and Jackson are the perfect combo of not serious and very serious. They work well together mainly because Jackson is so in love with Leland he lets him do whatever he wants.

This book is filled with more antics then I can count and I love it. This couple is hilarious and Alice Winters is a fantastic author. I will never stop wanting more antics from this couple.

If you like funny, snarky banter and a couple who love each other then this is the book for you.

*Reader Note: I received a free copy of this book directly from the author and this is my honest review.

yay - Leland is back!

I had no idea this series was going to continue after book 3 - what a nice surprise to have Leland and that poor tortured soul Jackson back for another adventure! Surprise me with another story in this series anytime, Alice!

2.5 stars. This one was fun to start with. I’d missed Leland and his antics, as well as Cassel. It was pretty neat for a good while there. Then I started to lose interest, both because the plot became so messy that I lost track and because I started to remember why Leland is better in small doses.

I was also pissed that Leland was still letting himself be manipulated by that asshole Lucas. Didn’t that plot end with the previous books? Then Leland randomly realized that Lucas was wrong and everything was fixed in two seconds, unprompted, making me wonder what the point was of even including that whole thing in the story.

The ending was very sudden and felt incomplete, like the author got tired of it all kind of like I did. It’s too bad, really. Better to keep the book shorter next time, perhaps, before that happens.

Another solid installment. Even if you have no idea what's going on with the plot, the comedy brings it all together.
