Completely over-the-top, but still really fun and entertaining. Definitely recommend checking it out!

An enjoyable read, but did not like some aspects of this book. While it has many of the normal plot lines of Heyer, I was more aware of the distasteful (offensive) manner one character attempted to treat one woman on two occasions.

Lots to like and enjoy apart from that part. Moderate recommendation. There are better Heyer’s.

Na-ja.

3 stars -- mostly because far too much page-space was devoted to the sad mopings of the hero's brother and the insipid ramblings of his imprudent and selfish wife. But the time spent with the hero and his friends and ladylove were quite delightful. I wanted to strangle the villain myself; I found him quite disgusting and the fact that
Spoilerhe doesn't get any comeuppance in the end
rather ruined some of my enjoyment.

I don't think I've read many or any at all that are Regency romance books written a long time ago. This one in 1921. It was surprisingly good and I want to read more from Georgette Heyer in the future

It's obvious this is Georgette Heyer's first novel in comparison to her later work, but at the same time, the quality is still much higher than the average romance novel pumped out by the industry.

Rating reviewed 12/27/2022.
