This was a good book with all the right characters. The plot was always twisting and I didn't figure out the killer just slightly before they did. I will have to read the next one.

3.5 stars. Definitely has the feeling of a first book, but I’m excited to see where this series goes. I hope the author backs off on the main detective being “not like the other girls” (they mention multiple times that she can eat for days and never gain a pound!) and shows some of the sexism that women in policing face, instead of all the men falling all over themselves to praise her.

The ending was good, but I had a hard time staying interested in the story.

Don't know how I'm so late to the party when I love Dr. Samantha Owens! Taylor is equally amazing and I can't wait to get into the other books.
This books contains a lot of rape, but luckily for us who hate that, it's not written out. It's just mentioned.
Murder is also a big part of this book as well. But again, it is done tastefully

First read - June 2014 (book)
Second read - January 2023 (audio)
I decided to revisit this one because I remember really enjoying it and as it’s a series I thought it best to remind myself of book 1.
A great read, thrilling and with a great twist at the end.
Now to FINALLY get on with the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed this book.I love reading mysteries where I think I know who the killer is and I have the whole scenario played out in my mind but then I get proven wrong and these twist come out of nowhere leaving me gasping out loud at my job lol. I've read many mysteries where a female is a cop and etc but I really enjoyed this and I really like Taylor Jackson.

Books I've read and provided detailed reviews over the years but all data is lost after accidental deletion and GD refuse to restore it back.

DNF at about 20%.
God this book is horrible.
The writing, plot, cheesy weird romance, characters, pacing everything is tied loose and comes out like diarrhea when opened.
Save yourself the toilet and skip this shit.
