I didn’t like this as much as Pestilence. I thought both the protagonists were alright but nothing that really stood out to me. This was also a very slow slowburn but the vast majority of it was the fmc being Luke warm about the mmc so all together the dynamic was a bit bland. Also I didn’t really like the ending but that’s just a personal preference

Too long and repetitive

This book could have been much shorter. War and Miriam went round and round with their conversations. Miriam was so slow and juvenile. She kept expecting different out comes asking the same damn questions. She had no spine either. She always fell over backwards to War even when she’s supposedly so very angry, puh-lease i kept rolling my eyes. Definitely like the first book better. The heroine and her actions felt more believable.

A brilliant second installment! I was unsure how the author would make this different to Pestilence but there was definitely enough to make it a unique and interesting book.
I really love this series and although for me it wasn't quite as good as book 1, I still devoured it.
With what is currently happening in the world, I did really struggle at the beginning when War was killing Palestinians, Gaza and Israel. It just hit too close to reality and was tough to read.

I am definitely looking forward to the next book although am going to take a little break so I don't just binge the series in a week!

Thank you NetGalley & Laura Thalassa for the ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’m very split on this book. The whole middle part is utterly confusing. There seems to be no reason for the MCs to fall for each other but they are…

Now the last third of this book was phenomenal! I enjoyed the possessive “wife” usage. I also thought the zombies were a cool twist.

I wish the pacing switched a little to show more of War growing and less of kill everything!

Also I’m sorry the speaking in tongues thing is so funny to me. Like he just spoke gibberish to his army and they all had no clue what he said but were like “yeahhhh!” anyways.

Overall a good read, not my favorite but I’ll definitely read the next!

Also I adore these new covers!

description

Neither main character was to my liking, nor was the story as a whole. I'm giving it 3 stars, cause it was still written very well, the flow was good (even if I don't agree with the progression of the relationship) and the previous book was so excellent that some of my appreciation for that one is spilling over into this one.

I sincerely hope book 3 will turn things around, and Famine will knock Pestilence and War out of the park.
