I hate all the characters, only maven was interesting and then he was gone. The plot is boring. There doesn’t need to be so many pages of no plot.

This book was sooo much better than the second. The second was so slow to read.
Still lots of political vibes, kinda reminds me of games of thrones with all the colour and houses. With all the GoT vibes, Maven is kinda similar to Joffrey. But I really don't understand the love for an boy who has no feelings other than an obsession with Mare which makes him an psychopath. I feel only sympathy for Maven. Was worried that Maven and Mare would end up together, can't wait to start the last book to see what kind of twist Victoria has in store.

It’s kinda slow to get started. I say started but the first half of the book is slow. Which is kinda annoying when the previous one is left on such a delicious cliffhanger and then it doesn’t deliver.
The second half however is fast paced and hard to put down so I suppose it’s worth it once you get through the first bit.

Victoria Aveyard's King's Cage is a mesmerizing addition to the Red Queen series, and it undoubtedly deserves a full 5 stars. The narrative is a captivating blend of political intrigue, rebellion, and personal growth that immerses readers in a world divided by blood.

In this installment, we find Mare Barrow, the lightning girl, captured and held prisoner by King Maven Calore. The novel delves into the psychological warfare between the two, adding layers of complexity to their already tangled relationship. The stakes are higher than ever as the divide between Reds and Silvers intensifies.

One of the key strengths of King's Cage lies in Aveyard's masterful character development. Mare's evolution is a triumph, as she faces the darkest moments of her life with unyielding resilience. We witness her growth from a girl grappling with newfound powers to a formidable leader who refuses to be broken. Her inner conflicts and the moral dilemmas she confronts add a depth to her character that makes her one of the most compelling heroines in the genre.

The supporting cast of characters is equally well-crafted, with their own struggles and complexities. We see the continuation of the love triangle, but Aveyard skillfully uses it as a tool to explore the characters' emotional journeys rather than as a mere plot device.

King's Cage dives deep into the moral and political complexities of this dystopian world. The narrative is a relentless exploration of power, oppression, and the human capacity for both cruelty and compassion. It compels readers to ponder questions about justice, leadership, and the blurred lines between right and wrong.

While the novel maintains a high level of tension and suspense, it also allows moments of introspection and emotional resonance, creating a well-rounded reading experience. The world-building continues to be a standout feature, with the Silver society's intricacies and hierarchies further unveiled.

In conclusion, King's Cage is a masterpiece of young adult dystopian literature. Its compelling characters, intricate plot, and thought-provoking themes make it a must-read for fans of the genre. The book leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Mare's journey. It's a gripping, emotionally charged, and expertly crafted addition to the Red Queen series."

This 3rd installment from the Red Queen series did not disappoint. We got to experience Mare being locked in the Kings Cage, unable to use her abilities. The Scarlet Guard has to regroup while she is imprisoned. I really liked the new perspectives that the story was told from. It helped to understand Evangeline and Cam so much better. You can't help but feel empathy for Evangeline after you get to see her life struggles. We found out just how much Maven's mind had been manipulated and controlled by his mother. Overall this was a great read and was packed full of character building and plot building. I cant wait to get to the last installment of the series!
