This collection of short biographies is a solid introduction to a wide variety of young girls who have impacted the world. Many of the selected girls are currently still young, and most of them are still alive, although there are a few pulled from the depths of history. The selected girls are pretty diverse in background and achievement, which makes for an interesting mix to read. There were a number of girls that you don't often see featured in these types of books, which was also really nice as someone who reads many of these types of books. The encouraging style and format is the kind that makes you want to get out there and do something.

One of the stories did get into some weird ableist language about perseverance etc, but there were four disabled girls featured, and the problem wasn't a theme. The slur for Roma folks is used at one point, which was a bit cringey. I wish more climate/environmental/water activists had been featured, particularly in one of the prominent positions and not just one of the single paragraphs at the back.

Overall, a good read, suitable for YA and MG readers eager to learn about the girls who have impacted the world from a young age, especially those reading with a mind towards action.

Rad Girls Can is one of my favorite reads of the year, full of interesting and inspiring content on young women past and present who have achieved remarkable things despite the obstacles. I especially appreciated the breadth of the collection, especially the diversity of the girls featured. They are diverse in race, religion, and culture, as well as from various time periods, achieving goals in so many different areas of the world. Chess champions, record setting athletes, political activists, writers and performers, fashion designers, online personalities, artists, musicians--the book is just overflowing with wonderful young women. And while not all the stories, especially the historic ones, end well, they still inspire. All of them. In the dark sea that is politics and reality right now, this book shines as a beacon of hope and a reminder of what can be achieved when young women are given the chance and/or when they have the determination to succeed. It also gives hope in what our future can be, with young women like this growing up to take over the world. The sooner the better, ladies! We need you!
So buy this for every young woman in your life. Read it yourself. Follow up on the stories and read more about these inspiring women. And maybe even do like I did, and follow the contemporary girls featured in this book via social media. We could all use to see more girl power and inspiring achievement in our lives.

That there are so many girls in this book who were born in the 90s, years that I can actually remember, and now they're adults influencing the world? First off: that's amazing.

Second: God, I'm old. I remember 1998!

I received this copy as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to both Kate Schatz and NetGalley for this opportunity!

I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of short biographies focusing on amazing women all over the world who have made a difference one way or another. This included so many different people: girls I have heard of before as well as new to me GIRL BOSSES and I'm so glad there are books coming out like this to shine the light on the importance of women throughout history! I do not have much more to say other than how happy I am to have read this book this month and definitely hope you guys check it out when it is released on the 17th of July!

Short biographies of young women and girls who have done amazing things win a wide variety of fields: science, art, sports, fashion, etc. Some of these girls are very young (6 years old!!) to 20 at the oldest and have made political stances or done amazing sports feats or fashion things, etc. Each bio is fairly brief but each girl/woman is quite amazing. The art is black and white and unique/stylistic. I think it is a great addition to a collection. I found it engaging. It is broad in scope. There are women I had never heard of before.

I was provided an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was very enjoyable and the stories about the girls were captivating. The only reason why it didn’t get 5 Stars is because the stories could have been a bit more in depth. Still, I liked that the stories weren’t too long, it helped keeping me focused.
I think everyone should read this but especially younger people, not just girls but boys too.
Girls need more representation and models and this was perfect for it.
