Okay! I just had a wonderful 3 days of escapism!
Anyone with a boisterous toddler will understand how much I need to escape the reality of constant mummy mode every now and then.
This book did it for me.
I can’t even believe this is a debut novel because of how good it is.
Well developed characters, a solid plot and joyful (not overdone to appear witty) dialogue.
It follows a story of Addie, a lawyer whose father is a runaway criminal. She’s embarrassed and angry about her past and moves to London to escape it all.
She meets Simon who is also dealing with family issues and a past he, too, wishes to forget.
The chemistry between them sizzles. And can I say it is so HOT that I got burnt reading their sexual trysts

This cover though? I had to pick it up. No synopsis just straight dived in. I'm happy I did because this was a beautiful love story. Addie & Simon were so freakin` cute. They both weren't looking for love and had their own secrets to hide but came together in the end in the best way. This is a bit of a slow burn but it's worth it. I was just vibing with this book and could not put it down. I'm looking forward to reading more from Dylan Allen.

This started pretty well with the heroine, Addie, living in London as a lawyer to escape the scandal surrounding her father, who absconded with millions of dollars in a fraudulent scheme. She meets Simon, a rising architect who has his own family issues. Almost immediately, there's instant lust which isn't my favorite trope, but I wanted to see where the family issues for the H/h settled out.
And they just sputtered with no real resolution or at least an explanation as to what happened with the father or Simon's sister. The writing was okay and it's a fairly short book, but I would have preferred more explanations of the issues and fewer sex scenes.

Addie and Simon's story is very emotional and multicultural; there are many secrets, lies, and romance. They have a sizzling chemistry, they can't seem to be able to stay away from each other. They face a lot of obstacles and find themselves questioning everything. It's a story that hooked me from the start, and it was intense and real. You have to read it.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed reading this. Not quite enemies to lovers but also not too much of the miscommunication troupe.

I love how Simon and Addie’s relationship unfurls and how they get past their issues and hang ups to reach for each other. Watching them open up and inevitably fall in love is beautiful. The story line outside of their relationship is an added bonus, as is the spice 😉.

Only negative is poor editing and typos, which threw me out of the story a little bit but still very well done.

I AM SCREAMING THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD 😭😭
Let's just start by saying that I freaking LOVED the fact the both Addie and Simon are both biracial. Its always good reading a well written story about POC characters without all the stereotypes. As an immigrant myself I felt so happy reading about Addie moving and thriving (career wise) in London. She was definitely a very strong and independent woman that ill always be admiring.
Addie and Simon had an instant connection from the moment they met. Their chemistry was insane. When they had disagreements or argued it just made them have even more chemistry and passion. I liked the push and pull between them both. It just showed that no matter what happened, no matter what secret was revealed they just couldn't stay away from one another.
These are two people that unexpectedly found love when they least expected or wanted it. They supported each other through everything. This was such a beautiful story to read and ill recommend it to ANYONE
