I LOVE Minerva Louise! She's a fat and feathered Amelia Bedelia for the preschool set.

Sean likes chickens and hats, so this was a winner in that regard. He did not understand the plot.

Great for preschoolers. Will also get some laughs from adults. I turned it into a feltboard.

This is one of my favorite children's books by far. It is very creative and quite silly and humorous.

Unlike the other chickens, Minerva Louise loves to explore on snowy days, but even this adventuresome chicken isn’t immune from the cold. She goes looking around the farm for something to keep her warm, as shown through simple, colorful illustrations with plenty of primary colors. What will keep readers’ attention is the way Minerva Louise misinterprets the world around her; a coiled hose is a scarf, but “it’s way too big,” and a pair of mittens becomes the perfect hat. The humor will delight children who are figuring out what goes where, and who enjoy pointing out the mistakes made by this enterprising chicken.

Minerva Louise is not the brightest chicken. The preschoolers laughed at the items she tried to wear.
