I really loved the romance in this book. The dynamic between Adalyn and Cam worked really well; the idea of her needing someone to fight for her and him desperately wanting to be that person, it was very well done. If you like a slow burn, then this is a particularly delicious one, and the chemistry is great. Personally I found it a bit too slow and I found the sex scenes, whilst well-written, a bit underwhelming. But I think I’ll be in the minority on that one.

Character-wise, I really liked both of them; I just wanted Adalyn to be happy, and Cam was just a delight of a character. He was so grumpy but also so warm and fierce and sweet towards her. I loved some of the things he said to her – it was very romantic.

One gripe I had was the subplot involving Adalyn’s father, this just wasn’t for me, though I did like the angst that it led to for her development. Overall though it was a delight to read; I didn’t want to put it down. It was a lovely book and the romance is very good. If you like slow-burn, then this is an excellent example.

Content Notes: Hate-to-love, small town, neighbours, sports (football/soccer), forced proximity.

This book felt SO slow and I hated how the author had characters repeating in their heads the lines other characters had literally just said to them. My memory is bad but it’s not so bad that I need to be reminded of the important lines moments after they happen.

As far as characters and story lines, I loved Cam and the girls from the team, or at least Maria who was really the only player who was consistently in the story. Adalyn was frustrating and completely clueless to any and everything going on in her life, and all of the stuff with her dad in the end felt rushed and just thrown in for unnecessary drama.

Very cute story! Broody MMC, enemies to lovers, he falls first & hard, FMC is a strong woman who has some insecurities

This book had cliché after cliché, worthy of a Hallmark movie (I’m not complaining
