Honestly, I'm so disappointed. This ruined Belle for me, she's rude and conceited and funnily enough everything that she calls Gaston in the film. ALSO I didn't want to read a book about Maurice, why was half of it about him?

Bonne réécriture mais pas forcément ce à quoi je m'attendais... Un peu déçu de la fin qui est trop jolie a mon gout, j'aurai préféré quelque chose d'un peu plus sombre je pense

Beauty and the Beast is one of if not my all time favourite movie, Disney or not, and I was super eager to read this. I was uncertain to whether I had read this book before but as it progressed I realised I have in fact read this a few years ago. Unfortunately this time around I was still not as obsessed with it as I wasn’t last time either. It was a good story of course but it just felt very similar to the original in places whereas Once Upon a Dream felt a lot more original throughout. I still liked the story and seeing how insanity and not wanting to accept yourself were contributing factors it just unfortunately was not my favourite Beauty and the Beast retelling.

This was definitely an interesting, quite dark retelling. It started really good, but I'm not sure what happened later, it was still good, but I didn't feel as captivated as I was in the beginning. I kinda liked how the writing-style felt a bit modern cause it made it easier to read and fly through. And I loved how magic was added to the story.
