Psychological horror juxtaposed next to beautiful natural scenery, Annihilation focuses on the willfulness behind self-destruction, and the resistance of healing.

Writing this review I have read Annihilation twice and I definitely would recommend going at the Southern Reach Trilogy for more than one read. If you decide that after a read through of this first one that you don't want to continue and that it may be too much that's alright! The trilogy does continue to develop but the others are somewhat separated and the first could possibly be treated like a standalone (like the movie).

It's definitely the kind of psychological that makes you stop and think. But as mentioned earlier it does get easier to follow and digest a second time around. Fantastically bizarre.

Interesting story, didn’t catch my attention enough for me to continue with the series but was enough to keep me reading til the end. Had a lot of elements I liked, might be one to come back to later on when I can give it my full attention.
