Having never learned anything about evolution growing up, I found this book to be an extremely thorough guide to the matter, explained with clarity, rigor, and passion.

Dawkins makes his case for the importance of evolution. And then writes about 200 more pages. If you are a rational person and believe in Darwinian evolution you have nothing to learn here. If you don't and are thinking about learning more then the arrogance presented here will make you turn away.
A lot of the chapters had unnecessary asides and some of the asides had tangents. That is to say - the book got rambling.

Great explanations of how evolution and natural selection work. Approachable for people with little background in science. Plus? Funny.

Another amazing book by Richard Dawkins, it's an easier read than The Selfish Gene but still an adventure! I love how he explains difficult subjects with such eloquence, Dawkins has a distinct writing style that I personally like; especially in a science book since difficult subjects tend to make me really sleepy and easily distracted, he makes it less boring for me. Although there were some parts that I found difficult to get through, and there were some parts that I found odd (like how he often uses Biblical characters in his analogies, I don't hate it but I'm just like??? Okay then Mr. Sunday School Teacher), but overall it was still a good read and I learned a lot from this book. Evolution has been a subject that I've been really interested in for a while now, so reading another book by Dawkins will always be a delight and I'm very much looking forward to reading his other books, especially The Greatest Show on Earth and The Ancestor's Tale.
