⁣“Two steps forward, one step back. Cha-cha-cha. The back and forth between the awkward and the familiar. Snark and sweet. Bold and timid. We had tread upon new ground the night before, and neither of us had found our steady footing.”⁣

I decided to cram in one last Christmas romance and kind of wish I’d picked something else. This was so slight, it’s almost transparent. There’s barely a story here and I felt no chemistry or heat between the two leads. ⁣

It wasn’t bad exactly, it was just….fine. And I wanted a bit more than fine for my last Christmas read of the year. December’s not over, so I might go for one more.

“I knew exactly what I wanted. And who I wanted. And very likely, who I had always wanted.”

I am becoming the biggest Cindy Steel fan!

After reading Faking Christmas I've gone back and bought everything this author has ever written and after finishing each and every book I'm definitely having NO REGRETS!

This book was light, fun and super swoony. I love a brother's best friend, forced proximity Christmas romance.

Grab this one because it's super fun!

BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Penny is looking forward to staying at her sister-in-law’s family cabin the week before Christmas. She’ll have it all to herself and be able to finish writing her next book and make her deadline. But when she gets there she discovers her brother’s best friend and enemy, Chase. He paid her brother for a week at the cabin. And with the snow coming down, it looks like neither of them can leave. As the two are forced to share the cabin for the week, they’re also forced to deal with their past and some romantic feelings.

This was my first Cindy Steel book and if it wasnt just so fun and wonderful. I loved Penny and Chase and the dynamic between them. Chase was such a flirt and I loved watching Penny get flustered by him. I felt the reason for Penny’s dislike of him was totally warranted and the lesson of this story was a good one: that the off handed comments we make can hurt people when we don’t even realize they’re listening and have lasting effects. This story was adorable and I can’t wait to read more by Cindy!

Cute novella. Cindy Steel keeps her romances clean, and this was no exception.
The cover and title imply that there’s a Christmas theme, but that’s not really the case. It would make for a fun wintertime read, though!

Snowed in over the holidays in a remote cabin to finish writing your book? sounds pretty perfect until your half dressed enemy appears from the bathroom.. this novella was full of banter and laughs!

What a great Christmas novella! It was funny, full of awkward forced proximity, and sweet moments. Novellas sometimes feel rushed or underdeveloped, but I loved this one! Their shared history made the relationship believable. The heat level was perfect, just enough! I would definitely recommend this book as a quick fun Christmas read!

cute holiday romance

Just when I had given up on holiday reads, this one grabbed my heart strings. A fun, enemies to lovers romp in the snow. Cheesy, i know, but it was cute. That sometimes what you think you hate the most is what you really want the most. It was a slow burn romance, with just enough tension to melt butter.

This was a cute little novella that definitely sparked my interest and kept me entertained. Their witty banter back and forth reminded me of some of my friendships.
