Nearly DNF.

Quite slow paced, not very interesting.  The murder was obvious from the beginning.

The clues didn’t really unfold throughout the book, they just fell into the detectives lap.

Also the motive behind the murders is unclear.

I wouldn’t carry on reading the series.

This book was an easy read, I was not expecting the ending, which is good in a detective/mystery book. However, I didn’t particularly like how the author created a feud between two of the characters and kind of forgot about it mid book. I was also not a fan of how the implied romance between Morgan and Ben played out. It seemed so unnatural and unnecessary.

Couldn’t put it down

This book is a page turner that kept me reading until the last page. Phifer did a great job of balancing detail, suspense, and imagery. As I read, the story played in my mind like I was watching it on tv. I can’t wait to read more from Helen Phifer!

Very short chapters which made it easy to dip in and out of when life gets in the way!
I had guessed the ending of the book
Perfect fit for readers who crave a dark and mysterious tale of murder, mystery, and suspense, with a strong and determined female detective at its center, and are eager to be drawn into a complex and thrilling investigation
