Great insights but the book felt a little repetitive sans dragged for me in places. I listened to it on audio and I think I would have had a better experience with a physical copy where I could skim when I felt I’d gotten the point.

I really enjoyed the memoir aspects and discussions of nuance in representation. I found some of the jokes and one-liners a bit cringe but that's just personal taste. Fun pop culture analysis overall.

Very good. Smart and nuanced just like she is on the radio. I loved getting a more personal side of her while also diving into pop culture moments, many of which resonated with me in some of the same ways they did with her. Also unsurprisingly, the charisma and witty is biting though out.

I love Aisha on Pop Culture Happy Hour, but I found these essays to be a bit too meandering and long for my liking. She tackles interesting subjects and is a wonderful writer, but a stronger editing hand would have made this a more enjoyable read.

She had a few takes I don’t agree with, such as how definitive she was about what is harmful (Black) media. But I like memoirs and I enjoy thinking about how pop culture impacts us.
