•This book was wild from the first page, no messing about.
•I enjoyed the perspective swap between Sloan, Asa & Carter.
•The story felt so quick & left me with many questions.
•I can only imagine living in those circumstances; events simply occur without rhyme or reason at crazy pace. It’s taxing physically, mentally and beyond emotionally.
•I blazed through the story, truly wanting to know if Sloan would be okay.
•I carried a heavy heart for a lot of this quick story.
•Realising that this can be a current chapter in someone’s real life on this planet made me feel many things.
•Getting into the mind of Asa was absolutely necessary for this story.
•I loved the insight into Stephen.

I could see why some people wouldn’t enjoy this book, but if I’m being honest, I was hooked! I haven’t read any CoHo since I really got back into reading. Nothing against her books because frankly I’ve enjoyed every one I’ve read but I’ve just been exploring other authors and types of books. Which is why I wanted to try this one out. I felt like it was more “Verity” CoHo and I really enjoyed that one so I gave it a try. I also decided to read it in audio format. I thought it would give me something different and I will admit I thoroughly enjoyed it this way. There were three narrators (loved this And they were all amazing) so it gave a great dynamic to the multiple POVS. I thought the story was suspenseful and thrilling. I didn’t know what was going to happen next and it had me dying to continue reading. I did really enjoy it but there was still a little something I can’t fully describe that keeps me from saying this was a perfect read for me.

Maybe this could be a good story if you scrapped everything and just kept the very very basic concept.

But it was badly written and Al of the characters were terrible people.

Please be mindful of the trigger warnings - Heavy Drug use, Mental Health, Domestic Abuse, S-Assault, non- consensual.

This was a solid 3- 3.5 for me, I don't think this one was as dark as Ugly love or Verity but was equally a very powerful read.

The strength Sloane has to have to withstand Acer was heartbreaking. I think unless you've been in her position it's hard to fully see the emotional heartbreak of some of the scenes in this book.

A tragic end but I felt the emotions of the ups and downs of this story. Recommend for people who don't mind triggers are in a good mental state.

All characters I found to be very well written and felt like they were real people, not just fictional beings.

The storyline was medium to fast paced, easy to follow. The Audiobook voice actors helped to bring the characters emotions and personalities to life and I enjoyed it more than I would think to read it.

⛓️ dark romance.
— slow-paced, multiple povs

“i don’t know what the hell i think i’m doing, but whenever i’m around her, all i can think about is how much more i want to be around her.”

i’ve been in a major reading slump, and this book helped me get through it. the story follows sloan, a woman trapped in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend, asa. but her world turned upside down when she meets carter, a man who has secrets of his own.

first of all, i have mixed feelings with this book. it was good, the plot seems very well thought-of and the element of suspense was great. the characters’ personalities also contributed to the beauty of the whole story. i actually felt sad for the fmc’s situation and her boyfriend made me so furious—he was so fucked up in the head. on the other hand, my favorite character in the story was carter—the mmc. i really like the idea of him being a knight-in-shining armor for the fmc.

to be honest, there are some dull moments and i was a little bit confused about the story at first, and it was kind of slow for me, but it was interesting at the same time. i also did not see the plot twist coming.

if you’re looking for a book with a touch of drama and suspense, you should give this book a try.
