Two sisters who had a hard childhood both reacted in different ways to the hard times they had, but through it all they found solace in each other. Samantha is the older sister and from her childhood has put all of her focus into her career as she books dream vacations that create unforgettable holiday experiences. She doesn't let any one close other than her sister and finds work success to be the true measure of her self worth. Ella is the younger sister and love and family are the most important thing to her. She has decided to be a stay at home mom and put her husband and child first and go in the most opposite direction from her childhood. Their mother has her own story and I don't want to spoil as those details come out in just the right way and illuminate how these girls have become the adults they have and one Christmas season will change everything.

Sarah Morgan has done it again! She's an expert on writing family dramas in Christmas times, that leaves you with a cozy feeling.

This is about a mother, Gayle, that has raised her two daughters with so much tough-love that they haven't talked in five years. The two sisters, Samantha and Ella, have always love Christmas even though they never celebrated Christmas as children. Their mother choose to work instead...

Now Gayle had an accident and start to question her choices with her daughters. How come they don't want to talk to her? To try to mend her relationships with them she wants to spend Christmas with them. Too bad they don't want invite her...

The three women are pretty strong characters and their relationships are difficult, except the one between Samantha and Ella. That's lovely. The setting is romantic and I immediately want to go to Scotland

This book centers around Gayle, a successful entrepreneur who is estranged from her two adult daughters, Samantha and Ella. After experiencing an accident at work, she wanted her two daughters to be by her side. The rest of the book follows her and her two daughters trying to reconcile during Christmastime.

I thought this was pretty good. The book was quite lengthy and had no big reveals, surprises, or twists, but the book was still a feel good read nonetheless. I loved the Christmasy feel and how the family members were able to reconcile. However, I did not have any sympathy toward Gayle at first. It was bizarre how she suddenly felt she needed to reconnect with her daughters, and it did not feel like she was sympathetic toward her daughters' feelings. After I got more into the book, I gained some respect for Gayle after learning about her past. I loved that all of the family had personal growth and gained new Christmas memories too.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Harlequin Publishing for giving me a copy of the book.

Just not vibing with the concept of estranged mother bonding with her daughters over Christmas. Feels very forced and I’m not a fan.
