Notes:
- Really don't know what to make of this one; it seemed like a portrayal of the way our generation lives their lives in response to an uncertain world but without much insight and a very unpleasant main narrative voice.
- I appreciate that some characters aren't meant to be likeable but this protagonist and her toxic relationships (of all kinds!) just felt immature, like they were late teens instead of 22.
- Not a huge fan of the "crack in the sky" plot idk it felt too much like it was meant to mirror the covid pandemic but I don't feel like it added much to the exploration of character stories.
- Rating not reflective of overall quality of book (~3.0-3.5?) but just my own feelings towards it: not the book for me. Really didn't like reading this voice and a few names/plot points hit a little too close to my personal history whoops—

This was an odd little piece of fiction. Not sure how I feel about the topics discussed and the overall plot events that happened

When I read the blurb, I thought this book was going to be exactly what I was looking for. A relatable main character that I could follow the actions of as were similar people.
That was true to an extent, Sophie and I are almost too similar in a way but I’ve never experienced an apocalypse, but then I’m not sure she has either. I also spend a lot of time on social media, mindlessly scrolling but to read about it so constantly in the book got boring. It was repetitive with how detailed it got each time when nothing changed. When they went to the beach house, I was hooked more. I relate to the experiences but not much actually came from it. Too drunk to remember the confrontation, and Sophie was still the same character at the end of the book as she was at the start.
I found myself rooting for Sophie through it all, I know how she feels.
