Absolutely brilliant ! The construction of this book is extremely clever and creative. The way each story connects together is really ingenious and I was amazed to see how each pieces came to fit with the others to form this book. I loved how K. Higashino used cultural and historical references as kind of foundation to the stories and also as time tracker for the reader. Adding to the construction and plot, the characters were amazingly well written and so they felt really genuine. Also, the quaint magic happening in this book is not without reminding me of the one Studio Ghibli's films always have.

I've read the English translation of the book so I would like to add that I found the translation pretty good !

This heartwarming magical realism slice of life story definitely makes it to my top for 2020. I warmly recommend it !

Not my kind of book. It’s too sappy and repetitive. But I can see how others can like a book like this one. Definitely uplifting. Just too cheesy for me.
