I got hooked. I thought yeah I'd read a few pages, nah I read the whole book in like 3 hours that's with taking an hours break for Love island. This book hit in the feels. I need a sequel like Carrie has left it so well open-ended for a sequel and I need it. Like are they on the run for the rest of their life?! What happens?!

A very sweet and rather light book. Even with the slightly magical elements, initially it seems like one kind of book and story about coming to terms with your emotions and then it suddenly takes a step sideways into something else which felt a little jarring. Still a very sweet enjoyable book. It feels like a book 2 in the series is expected. So I may read that too.

Review - I didn't enjoy this one as much as her previous novel, [b:On the Other Side|25744542|On the Other Side|Carrie Hope Fletcher|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1454773346s/25744542.jpg|45585298]. I thought that this one didn't quite feel as connected as the previous one, and I couldn't seem to connect to the characters. It's kind of chic lit crossed with sci fi like the previous one, and this time it just doesn't quite work. Nevertheless it is still enjoyable and I think the first half of the book is better than the second.

Just really lost interest.
The characters were kinda boring and predictable.
Absolutely fucking hated when all the "insane asylum" and electro shock therapy bs came out of pretty much nowhere at the 60% point. Very weird and just made me uncomfy?
The concept is sooooo good if it had stayed as just cherrys antics as the town baker influencing mood and meddling in stuff she shouldn't meddle it. Cute rom come type of thing. But the apparent love interest was an asshole and annoying. Then random childhood friend from the pat came out of nowhere bc he "broke out" pf the asylum or whatever? Idk.
Not my fave and it's been on my current reads list for far too long

I really enjoyed the premise; I found the visual representation of our feelings and emotions extremely soothing and also thought provoking; I found the ‘moral’ of the story to be actually very relevant and important. It’s not that I disliked the book, not at all. Perhaps it was rushed in places, and certain elements skimmed over so I didn’t feel quite so attached to certain things as I should.
It was an enjoyable read, however, and I certainly feel a little more in tune with my ‘meddlums’ right now.
