This might be my favorite book I've read this year!
I'm a big fan of historical fiction and nonfiction as well as biographies. This book is the Venn diagram of my favorites!
It's obviously a labor of love for the author and incredibly well researched. He seemed to spend significant time researching as well as speaking to folks in political power that have great perspectives as well as being present during some of the more current presidents' times in office.
Spectacular! I'll likely read it again and it will go in my permanent library.

American history is all drama and I'm here for every second of it. I love the formatting of this book, it was knowledgeable and really got me back into historical non-fiction.

An interesting portrayal of the 8 times a VP has ascended to the job due to a death in office and how well or poorly they were able to recover (particularly relevant in today's political outlook)! Also disturbing was an evaluation of all the "near misses" that have been documented - I'm sure there are hundreds more which the Secret Service has been able to thwart.

Absolutely loved this one and will probably come back to it again. Really well-written, fascinating topic, and important American history.
