A lovely 1920's retelling of Snow White told through black and white watercolor and pencil. Very moody feeling. A quick, quick read.

This is the first graphic novel that I read, and I think it was very good. I read it in under an hour!

This graphic novel retelling of Snow White in late 1920's New York has a really cool aesthetic. As the core of the story remains the same, the very visual elements of a graphic novel made it the right medium to re-imagine this fairy tale. I would like to see a short film of this someday, I think.

Because of the long time spent in the first act, with setting up the 'evil queen-stepmother' character, some of the later plot points are short changed, in my opinion. One of the great reinventions is the seven dwarfs as a gang of seven street urchins. I would've loved more time with them and developing the bond between Snow and them. (She adopts them at the end, A+.) Also, with customary kiss at the end..., it's there because it needs to be for the story. It doesn't really make sense? Thank goodness it was a kiss on the cheek in this more realistic context. So some of the little plot details don't make complete sense, and I wish more time was spent on the later acts of the story, but the aesthetic and the emotion driven through the artwork was great.

A very enjoyable, atmospheric read. I was left wanting more.

A very hilarious rendition of the fairy tale Snow White. I'm not a big graphic novel reader and probably should've paid more attention to the images.

Incredible warmth. I’d firmly place this in the children’s literature category rather than young adult, mainly due to the lack of dialogue. I don’t think that necessarily takes away from the story though, as the illustrations are impossibly beautiful.

A child may not understand the concept of ‘noir,’ obviously, but I think this is one of those books that makes for a pleasant out-loud reading experience before bedtime. Both words and pictures are simple enough for a child to understand, but again, I don’t think that necessarily diminishes any of the good.

Took me maybe 30 minutes tops to flip through, and that includes stopping and dwelling on the illustrations that resonated with me most. Looking forward to discussing this in my children’s lit class next week.

I thought the illustrations were gorgeous and I thought it was neat that it was set in the 20s. Overall a quick, fun read for fans of graphic novels and fairy tale retellings.

cute spin on a classic tale! loved the illustrations! my only issue was that there was not a lot of dialogue. You could easily follow the storyline with the pictures but I would have loved to have more depth to the story.

Loved this post-Depression era retelling. The illustrations are noir and dreamy.
