This was a fun, light read about changing over time and second chances. Cleo is convinced Johnny is going to be a serious issue in her life when he returns to town. For me, Cleo was the larger issue with her awkward, passive aggressive tendencies but she is, ultimately, a likeable person- she even helps out her school tormentor who appears not to have changed at all.
I enjoyed the relationship building that appeared when Cleo let her guard down and the fact that poor old Johnny sat through all of the weirdness with a smile.
Great book for a day at the beach or after work to make you smile.

It's been a while since I've read books of this genre because I find them too "light" but this one is making me reconsider that thought.

1/3 through the book, I thought I'd be bored with it because the "conflicts" seemed to have all ended. But I was wrong. There were more room for drama, twists and what not. Cute story. Will definitely get more titles by Jill M.

This is a true beach read type of book, kind of like Bridgette Jones Diary. No real surprises in the format just good fun.

2.5 stars. This book was okay. It's an easy and fast read (which is a compliment to the writing style), but I think there were too many characters that annoyed me and situations that seemed improbable. Also, I only finished it about a week ago, but had to read the summary again to jog my memory about the story to write this review.

When Cleo finds out her partner Will is married it ends up being another relationship disaster and she finds herself without a man by her side, again. Then there is Johnny La Venture who she has known since early school days, oh and who played a prank on her at school by pretending he was interested in her for a bet. Leaving poor Cleo laughing stock at school until something more interesting happened. Naturally Cleo is very wary of super slick, very handsome Johnny.
This is a small town romance filled with wonderful characters and friends, it's cosy, warm, light-hearted and downright funny. Everything you would expect from a Jill Mansell Book. With of course that shining HEA that we all love and crave and naturally expect from one of Jill's books.
When Johnny comes back home to the small town, Cleo tries everything in her power to stay away from him and he from her, well sort of. He can't resist a bit of a challenge. To say he is her long lost friend upon his return, is definitely an understatement.
Will Cleo change her mind about Johnny? Does he have feelings for her? Will Ash get the girl he wants, when Cleo's philandering ex realsies his wife Fia has left him?
It's all going on....
A brilliant book to relax with at any time of day. Enjoy
