Good story, funny moments, sweet and steamy. Chris Brinkley is my fave audiobook narrator. I chose this one because he narrated it. Happy to be introduced to this author.

As a librarian, I knew that I had to read all of the books in this series. And one thing that got me from the very start was how each chapter began with a Dewey Decimal number and a definition for what it was. I also really liked that it was an older couple, but the woman was still single and never been married, as that totally is me in a way. We got a lot of the whole Green Valley world with favorite characters such as the Winstons, Deputy Jackson James, and the Iron Wraiths. Of course with this being a librarian as a main character, another thing that is a connection for me, we got lots of talk about Bethany Winston, who we know and love from the Winston Brother series. It was so realistic seeing a library have to struggle for funds, sad, but real. And even more real was having the one librarian that had been there forever and who was struggling with all the changes going on as libraries evolve over time. Part of the older couple romance I enjoyed was that Naomi was still somewhat innocent. While I don't completely connect to that from my past, these days, as long as it's been for me, it totally reminded me of myself there too. I love how she kept saying she was going to be bad at things, and that Nathan would at first take it as she was "being bad", like naughty as opposed to not being good at whatever it was. And not that she was bad, he enjoyed it all just fine. The romance was sweet, the steamy scenes were hot, and I really did love the whole world. I don't have a problem with the Wiccan aspect of the story, just didn't quite care for as much of it as there was, almost like any other religion becoming too much a part of a story in a way for my taste. I'm very excited to go on with this series in the SmartyPants Romance books. Also, call me crazy, but I would kind of like to see Jackson James find an HEA one of these days. He might be a little smarmy, but I still kinda like his character, and he's not all bad.

loved every single page of this story and it became one of my favourite books of the year. I’m always looking forward to read second chance romance and this story just ticked every single box for me. They’re perfect together and their banter and intimate moments are so hot, I could feel the chemistry between them from the first page and I just couldn’t stop reading. Love it and can’t recommend it enough.

I love the Green Valley Universe created by Penny Reid, so I was excited to pick this up as a continuation to the idyllic community she created. As a librarian, the concept of a library romance series intrigued me. The two main characters were fun and showed strong characterization throughout the story. At parts, it seemed like there was a bit of plot stutters, but even so, I couldn't wait to read more.

Loved this quirky and fun romance! It was so refreshing to read a second chance romance that for two people in their late thirties and early forties. Naomi and Nathan shared one night of amazing passion and then were separated for 18 years. Both lived their lives and moved on but an event shaped both their lives. This is a story of two people getting stuck on each other and finding the grace to move on from the past. It has everything you love about Green Valley and so much more. Plus Nathan and Naomi have off the charts chemistry. If you are looking for a book that will surprise you and hit your in the feels then this is your next 5 star read! Also the cover is amazing!!

Second chance and Rom Com!? I'm down! I loved the chemistry with these two main characters, Nathan and Naomi! These characters are so diverse in their personal lives, but that didn't stop them from letting their hearts open up again for love. It was beautiful to watch happen. There were mysteries and secrets and past hurts that changed the paths of these characters years before, but put them on a path to find each other when they were more mature, close to 40. Also, she's a LIBRARIAN. I love her because of that alone! HA!

Eh. I really wanted to love this one. Unfortunately, so much about it fell short for me. There were a few sweet moments, and I liked Nathan's character and his daughter Clem. Mostly, I appreciated the homage paid to Bethany Winston.

That said, the writing style felt awkward and clunky. Several attempts at humor fell way flat for me, and I felt zero chemistry between Nathan and Naomi. The whole "capture the witch" subplot is pretty weak, and It's a bit of a stretch to believe that she's been pining, celibate, for 18 years for a one stand. Yes, I understand there are other emotional ties to that night, but come on...That, plus her pretty unbelievable awkwardness and self-pity made Naomi hard to relate to. It wasn't endearing, it was cringy.

Honestly, this is probably a 2 star book for me, but I added one star for Bethany Winston and Green Valley. I wanted to DNF it a few times, but pushed through because I love this world so much. The ending was satisfying enough, so I'm glad I finished it. This is my first book by this author, and I probably won't seek her out in the future.
