This is a solid 3.5 stars. It was super cute. There were times where it was maybe too awkward for comfort and some of the disasters were a bit too disaster-y, but it was fun. I loved the characters a ton. I would've liked more swoon moments, but the slow build was totally believable. Overall, I'm glad I read it, and I will certainly have a few of those meet-cutes in my head for a long time...

4.5 stars. I was in precisely the right place to appreciate this wacky cinnamon roll of a story.

Funny, self-aware, and sweet, Winters' debut is a real charmer. It may not offer many surprises, but one of the strongest appeals of this genre is the stubborn possibility that a far-fetched premise will develop in such an entertaining way as to make the viewer (or reader) a believer in possibility. We expect banter, slapstick, misunderstandings, and wrong partners, but the most powerful draw is the wistful, heart-squeezy moments that put dreamy hope in the eye of the right audience.

True to form, some of the best characters are supporting players. Young Anette is as precious as she is precocious, and she lifted the story each time she appeared. Evie's trio of friends - each distinct on own but also fabulous fun in combination - reminds strongly of Bridget Jones' pals in a way that pays homage without parody.

I may be in the minority, but I find this novel's "rom-com that is also a celebration of rom-coms" premise both more successful and more fun than [b:Waiting for Tom Hanks|40969415|Waiting for Tom Hanks (Waiting for Tom Hanks, #1)|Kerry Winfrey|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1544730803l/40969415._SX50_.jpg|63916403]. I have no hesitation about offering the other to readers, but this will be the one I reach for with most enthusiasm.

This was a really enjoyable book and EXACTLY what I needed during these weird quarantine times. I enjoyed the story, though it was a bit predictable. Definitely makes for a great beach read (although I didn’t read it on a beach)

I started this years before finishing it.
I liked who she ends up with, the kid character was cute.
FMC is just such a mess, hated the whole bacholerette drama.
The 'twist' did kind of surprise me, but I am very dense with stuff like that.

I haven't read a book in a long time, and the fact that I call myself a bibliophile puts me to shame. After facing a month of unemployment, I decided to drag my butt to the nearest library to borrow some books despite my bookshelf overflowing with them.

I came across this book as the cover reminded me of 'The Hating Game' by Sally Thorne. I remembered being so deeply engrossed in it.

The same thing happened to me, the moment I was introduced to 29-years old Evie Summers. Like her, she's stuck in a job where she's overworked, under-appreciated, and clearly taken-for-granted. I feel you, Evie. I understand.

As a sucker for the fantasy and illusion of Rom-Coms, I embarrassingly am a sucker for 'meet-cute' which is what award-winning (in italics, might I add) Ezra Chester, screenwriter, should be penning down for his next big hit. Ezra or 'NOB' infamously branded by Evie, doesn't believe in 'meet-cute' or what those movies tried to tell us about love.

Now...the characters......:

JEMS: I felt like I really didn't get to see/read them more often than not. It was like I never ever get to truly know each of their relationship with Evie. Just to watch for Sarah and her meticulous PowerPoint presentation.

NOB: He really be your stereotypical 'bad boy' that are called Hunter with the contagious smirk and all. I mean, what he did was unacceptable but hey! At least he had some heart, eventhough it was towards the end.

Monty: I knew he was a little piece of poop but I really didn't expect him to be that shady. Me when he revealed his shadyness :

Ben and Annette: Nothing much just *chef kisses*

Jane: She was iconic, humorous yet short-lived. The way she just let Evie go to the book club. Even I didn't see that coming.

The grand gesture at the end was really cute, he-who-shall-not-be-named, clearly remembered the little details she mentioned. Find me a man that's loaded too. Overall this book really tried to shake me off my delusion of having a happy ending that only exists in rom-coms but it clearly proven that I truly adore books than movies set in this genre.

I really liked this, it was very light and funny sometimes.
It's perfect for those moments you want some easy romance without a super big plot.
Also, I really loved all the meet-cute scenes, they were really sweet and funny. But my only problem was how sometimes the drama was a little bit too much like everything would be okay if you stop messing around every single time.
I can't say more but I really liked this and if you like this genre you'll definitely like this book.

Hi yes so I’d like to formally announce this as one of my new favorite rom-coms. The CUTENESS that this book is? Can’t be explained. I have a new favorite book boyfriend and his name is Benjamin Michael Williams. I mean, what a SWEETHEART. (I’ve stayed up late to finish this and as such, my excitement just can’t be held in, apologies).
Evie, Evie, Evie. Our main character, yes, of course loveably quirky and somewhat putout with where life has landed her at the moment- is in the midst of staging meet-cures, in the hopes of having a meet-cute, to prove meet-cute’s can happen, to a screenwriter who doesn’t believe in meet-cites, but needs to write a meet-cute. Follow? It’s simple enough. And SO much fun!
