Man, this was fun, sweet and kind of cheesy in the way a Lifetime movie is. But a good Lifetime movie. That sort that doesn't have you rolling your eyes over everything making no sense. Sure, the drama was kind of typical but it was nicely done and the main couple were enjoyable together.

It was a good time, and I think I have a new author to look into when I'm looking for this sort of story now, so huzzah for that.

Nothing really special about this. Cliched royalty romance, although I did appreciate how the end veered away from the standard form in some respects.

This was such a sweet feel good romance! I did not expect to like it so much.

Usually I don’t need half star ratings but I’d probably rate this one 4.5 stars if I could. It was a super fun and enjoyable romance with such heart. But I usually reserve 5 stars for books that really get my blood pumping (whether from action or just simply smiling from ear the whole time like The Deal). This one had me smiling and swooning quite a bit though I will say. :)

So it’s a classic Prince and a common girl contemporary romance story. Haven’t really read one of these. I’ll be honest that this book wasn’t much on my radar until I came across book 3 on the series about Logan and Ellie (I’m a sucker for a bodyguard romance). But I wanted to read these in order rather than jumping right to that one because I’m OCD like that. I am still really looking forward to that one though. Ellie is such a character, especially the end where she stumbles and falls into the Queen. No shame. Love her! And Logan is definitely mysterious. Can’t wait for their book.

But back to this one. Nicholas, Olivia, and the entire cast of characters in this book are such a breath of fresh air. Full of life and personality. Even the side characters are dynamic and interesting. Emma Chase sure does an excellent job with character development. I loved all her characters and she manages to even give the side characters some amazing depth and backstory - from Franny to Henry and even the seemingly cold grandmother Queen. Excellent character development. Top notch! And of course the main characters are fleshed out perfectly as well in a way that makes them feel real and not perfect but in that perfectly imperfect way.

And the relationship between Nicholas and Olivia is what I’d call a naturally developed romance. They have an immediate attraction to each other, but in a very realistic way that slowly develops as the story progresses. Just beautifully done! And the sex scenes are steamy and romantic!

I’m excited to continue the series. Henry is an interesting character for the next one and I look forward to his book.

I highly recommend this one if you love slow burn sweet romances with minimal internal relationship drama that are just fun and sexy and romantic.

Lindo y de pelicula rosa con escenas muy muy calientes. Ambos protagonistas son adorables y los secundarios tambien, en especial Simon y Franny me encantaria una historia corta de ellos.

I listened to about half of this audiobook. It was okay. Honestly, I'm not really an audiobook person, so it irked me that I could have finished the book in the time I spent listening to it (sped up as well!) but I did have a couple of issues besides that.

The main couple had chemistry but I wasn't in love with them, and the story was pretty run of the mill. It was fine, but rather underwhelming. It feels like the cover looks. I suspect I would have enjoyed it more as a book, and ultimately decided that I didn't care enough to listen to it for three more hours. 2.5 stars.

'Royally Screwed' tells the story of Nicholas, Prince of Wessco, and his avoidance of his ultimate duty: find a woman to marry (who obviously has to be of some sort of royal or noble blood). In addition, this book is about Olivia, a NYC native who trying to make ends meet with her family-run pie shop. Can you see where this is going? In a chance encounter, Prince Nicholas becomes enamored with the smart-mouthed Olivia and decides he can't stay away.

Unfortunately, my problems with this book outweigh my positive feelings about it. Nicholas is a womanizer and a bit of an asshole, but for some reason he becomes SLIGHTLY less stupid around Olivia. Personally, I didn't find this personality shift justified given the amount of time the passes in the novel. Additionally, Olivia is characterized as this semi-jaded New Yorker who doesn't let anyone (especially men) walk all over her. However, Prince Nicholas is constantly talking to and treating Olivia like she is a trophy to be won. I feel like at times Olivia is a very strong woman, but then other times she folds to his advances with no real reason. This book is lightly smutty, but most of the sexy scenes are a little more romantic than anticipated considering how disconnected Prince Nicholas appears to be from the opposite sex. He's supposed to be in it for himself with his hookups in the past, then shows unexplained shifts into being gentle and caring for Olivia... It just didn't justify itself in the writing.

Okay, I'll admit it... I fell victim to reading this book because I was looking for a potentially smutty romance novel on my library's 'available now' section on Overdrive. I needed an audiobook to fill time on my commute and didn't have the time to find an actually interesting book. This isn't to say I hated this book or wouldn't recommend it, but I will say it was not a book that I will be recommending very often.

I will probably continue with this series ONLY because a few books later I see that some of the characters I actually enjoyed (secondary characters, mind you) are featured. So... we'll see if this continues for me or not.
