Er was heel veel discussie over het boek, dus allereerst een stukje daarover. In het kort: ik zat een beetje in het midden tussen alle meningen in. Het boek is niet verschrikkelijk transfoob (het gedeelte wat je transfoob zou kunnen opvatten, is maar een klein stukje in het grote verhaal), maar ik kan ook niet met zekerheid zeggen dat het helemaal niet transfoob is. Wil je hier langer over doorlezen, lees dan hier (geen spoilers, maar lang stuk):
Ik denk dat het thema me niet opgevallen was in het verhaal, als ik het gewoon zonder voorkennis had gelezen. Maar ik heb de discussie wel gevolgd en hoewel ik de discussie rond sommige uitspraken van JK Rowling wel snap, vind ik ook dat de cancel cultuur bizarre vormen aanneemt. Als je alleen maar kijkt naar de hatelijke reacties onder reviews (van mensen die het boek niet eens hebben gelezen), wordt je een beetje misselijk. Ook dat alles wat gelieerd is aan JK Rowling ineens verschrikkelijk is, vind ik ver gaan. Alsof een persoon alleen één mening is. Ik word er een beetje bang van eigenlijk.
Hoewel ik denk dat de kritiek op het specifieke boek (ik heb het nu niet over de andere uitlatingen van Rowling) compleet uit de bocht is gevlogen, kan ik ook weer niet met zekerheid zeggen dat dit boek echt niet transfoob is. Ik voelde me wel ongemakkelijk bij sommige stukjes. Ik weet het gewoon niet zo goed… Ik heb artikelen gelezen en de een trapt het boek helemaal de grond in qua transfobe inhoud, terwijl het andere artikel het boek juist verdedigt en beargumenteerd waarom het niet transfoob is. Weet je: ik vond dat alle twee de kanten punten hadden. Ik ben geloof ik een beetje in het midden beland in de ik-weet-het-gewoon-niet-zo-goed-meer-positie, maar wat ik in ieder geval weet is dat het geen grote rol speelt in het verhaal. Het hoofdthema van dit boek is namelijk de #me2-discussie, dat wordt wel vanuit heel veel kanten belicht. Uiteindelijk dat denk ik persoonlijk met een nuchtere en kritische leeshouding, dit boek gewoon kunt lezen.
Na dit uitstapje, dat langer duurt dan de review: wat vond ik van het boek zelf (buiten de discussie om). Dat vond ik dus gewoon weer leuk. Ik hield weer van de karakers Robin & Strike en de chemie die er tussen hen in hangt, dit is wel een spoiler: en ik heb bij de boeken een beetje hetzelfde gevoel als bijvoorbeeld met de hoofdkarakters in The Lord Of The Rings en Harry Potter. Het voelt als thuiskomen. Het detective plot was weer heel lang, maar in tegenstelling tot het vorige deel heb ik me er niet aan gestoord. Ik vond het juist wel fijn dat het onderzoek een jaar beslaat, want dan duurde het boek langer xD (ik wilde niet dat het ophield.). Het verhaal bouwt langzaam op, er zijn veel verdachten en zijlijntjes en ook gaat het regelmatig over het persoonlijke leven van Strike & Robin, maar ik heb me geen moment verveeld en was telkens benieuwd hoe het verder ging. Sterker nog, ik heb avonden te lang doorgelezen en dagen brak op mijn werk rondgelopen omdat ik mijn bedlampje niet op tijd uit deed. Deze serie is gewoon hele fijne comfort read (zelfs al gaat het over een moord). Ook het einde vond ik wel statisfying. Ik vond het kortom weer een fijn Robin & Strike boek en ik vond het jammer dat het uit was.

De moordenaar waar de transphobic-discussie over gaat, is één van de potentiële moordenaars (en dat zijn er veel in dit boek). Hij is geen transgender. This one was really long and not as well written as the first couple books in this series. But overall I really liked it.

Robin finally got rid of Matthew the leech! Good riddance. The fact that he got his mistress pregnant still infuriates me though. I enjoyed this thoroughly especially because the romantic relationship between Strike and Robin is developing now.

This was hands down my favourite of the Strike novels so far. Even though it was a cold case, the mystery had me hooked right from the start, and some of the scenes (especially re-tracing the victim's steps through dark alleys) were genuinely creepy. I was completely invested in finding out what happened to Margot Bamborough, more so than in previous Strike books. It wasn't perfect though - for me, the book was far longer than it needed to be, and when it comes to her relationships (particularly Strike and Robin) Galbraith does too much telling vs showing for me. It leaves me not feeling super invested in their romantic relationship at all. But this is all subjective, and Galbraith is a master of weaving in layers of plot to build a rich, intriguing story with multiple angles. Looking forward to the next Strike novel when it comes out. Four stars from me.

I am sure that there are plenty of readers who thought this book was too long at just under 930 pages (I read the hardcover edition), but I am here to tell you that I. LOVED. EVERY. MINUTE. It normally would take me a month or more to finish a book of this length, but I simply couldn't put it down. The returning protagonists of Cormoran and Robin do not disappoint and we continue to learn more about them as we learn more about the case--their first cold case for their private detective agency. I love, love, LOVED it. The writing is brilliant of course and personally, it may be because I am new to the mystery genre, but I did NOT see the twist coming. 10/10 would recommend!

i loved character development , and as far as to the matter that was offensive for trans people i didn't saw anything like that, people need to read before they speak , book is slow though and plot-line bit long but a good really enjoyed . really jk rowling did a great job and know waiting for 6th one

Sin duda alguna Sangre turbia es el mejor de la serie de Strike y Robin. En mi opinión creo que la trama ha sido la más compleja y/o complicada hasta ahora pero eso no quiere decir que se vuelve pesada porque mientras más te vas adentrando en el misterio más quieres leer, no cae en pasajes lentos o de "relleno". Cada página, cada pista tiene un objetivo que te lleva a entenderlo todo al final. JK se supera en cada entrega de los detectives.
Creo que lo que más me ha gustado es que es en este libro donde se ve más el crecimiento de Cormoran. Hemos visto el crecimiento de Robin desde el primer libro y han sido mis partes favoritas de la serie, sin embargo con Strike la cosa iba poco a poco. En Sangre turbia podemos ver a un Strike más humano, algo que hemos visto en libros anteriores pero que en este se acentúa muchísimo más. Y es justamente es en esas partes donde más he llorado.
Tiene mucho de todo este libro, me ha puesto sensible, ansioso, feliz, triste. Ha sido una montaña rusa de emociones y me ha encantado de principio a fin.

Without a doubt, Troubled Blood is the best of the Strike and Robin series. The plot has been the most complex and complicated so far but that doesn't mean that it becomes heavy because the more you go into the mystery the more you want to read, it doesn't fall into slow passages or "filler". Each page, each clue has a reason that leads you to understand everything at the end. JK exceeds herself in each installment of the detectives.
What I liked the most is that it is in this book where Cormoran's growth is most seen. We have seen Robin's growth since the first book and they have been my favorite parts of the series, however with Strike things went slowly. In Troubled Blood we can see a more human Strike, something that we have seen in previous books but in this one it's actually visible. And it is precisely in those parts where I have cried.
This book has made me sensitive, anxious, happy, sad. It has been a roller coaster of emotions and I have loved it from beginning to end.
