I was lucky enough to win this book via a goodreads giveaway and am SO happy I did! I've been a fan of this entire series and have been putting off reading it because every time I finish a book in this series, I'm left anticipating and waiting for the next one.

This story brings together Angus, a scowling wolf from the New Orleans shiftertown, who is tasked with tracking and bringing in Tamsin, a feisty collar-less fox, to the shifter bureau for 'questioning'. In order to get Angus to agree to this task, they abduct his (adorable) cub Cieran. What ensues is a heartwarming and action packed adventure where Tamsin and Angus work together (and fall in love of course) while trying to evade an evil shifter bureau agent by hitching a ride with a traveling carnival (shout out to the Zipper ride that I've seen people throw up in and have forever since avoided). With the help of old and new friends they are able to resolve the majority of the issues of why the shifter bureau is hunting for Tamsin while also learning more about the fox shifters, which the majority of the other shifter species didn't believe or know existed.

I definitely teared up a few times while reading this. Any time cubs are involved in these books, especially like Cieran was in this one, it hits me right in the feels. My favorite parts of the book involve re-visiting a lot of my favorite characters (Tiger, Xander, Rae, Ben/Gil, Dimitri, Jaycee, Dylan, Sean, etc.) and places (the magic/sentient haunted house!) from past stories. I truly love reading about how past characters are getting on. We also meet a new collar-less shifter and his half-fae mate (and their cub) who I hope we'll get to hear more from in the future. I also appreciated the fact that it seems like Ben is finally going to get a chance at a mate.

A thank you to Penguin Random House for allowing me a title through firsttoread in exchange for a review.

This is my first review for this author and I have to say the blurb and cover was outstanding. The scene building was epic in this lengthy novel, as apparently being number 11 in a series. You can read this as a standalone though because all the novels portray different characters. You don't necessarily have to read them in chronological order which I love because very few authors write so many books in a series that way.

I loved the characters, it starts with wolf shifter Angus. He's collared and quietly living in a collared community but known for his great tracking skills. The shifter bureau steals Angus' cub and until he brings in an unknown uncollared female they will ransom his son. So immediately Angus is on the defensive. Tamsin the uncollared female proves to be more than Angus' match in every way, and after an agreement they both go after Angus' cub. Throw a lot more shifters in the mix and you will have enough cunning and agile shifters thwarting the shifter's bureau. I enjoyed the book and give it four stars for entertainment. The humor of these powerful shifters being collared was just fun and watching Angus and Tamsin escapades was thrilling. It's not your avaerage shifter story.

Thank you, NetGalley, for a free e-book copy of this book!

Midnight Wolf by Jennifer Ashley is a romance novel about Angus and Tamsin. They are both Shifters (like werewolves). It starts out as a mission for Angus to find Tamsin, but they end up falling in love and fighting the government together.

The romance wasn't amazing in this book. The characters seemed boring and/or done before. The plot wasn't great. I understand that Ashley was going for a strong, female character, but Tamsin just ended up being annoying.

I wouldn't recommend this to anybody in the mood for a good romance book, but I would recommend it to people who like slow romance and Shifters.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Berkley Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Midnight Wolf is a story I have been definitely looking forward to reading all year and I had a blast with this book. Now I won't say its my favorite book of the series, however this book was SMASHING it all the ways that Jennifer Ashley writes a romance. I can never get enough of her writing, and Midnight Wolf, was so wonderful and easy to read. I read through this book so quickly and now I am saddened that the story is over and I will have to wait for the next book for more of this world of the Shifters Unbound.

Our story begins with our hero, Angus is a bouncer shifter for a bar in New Orleans, he is a father to his son and Angus is a single parent. When officers from the Shifter Bureau kidnaps his son and will only free him if Angus hunts down a lone collarless shifter, a woman that slips through their fingers and they need an expert. And Angus is one of the best shifter trackers. Angus doesn't want to have to hunt down a fellow shifter however his son is more important to Angus than anything or anyone else in the world and he will do anything to protect him. Tamsin is quite the fox, who keeps on slipping through Angus' grasp, but Angus is determined and once he has Tamsin in his grasp, he doesn't want to let her go. Angus and his son become enamoured with Tamsin who is craft yet kind and courageous.
Big bad wolf, afraid of a carnival ride, and he blushes about the mating frenzy

I simply loved this book so much. The bantering between Tamsin and Angus was so delightful and I adored the snarky humor that Ashley makes so entertaining for her readers and this book was no exception. And Angus' son was a HOOT!! He is so frank and never afraid to say what is exactly on his mind. And he is quite the matchmaker for Angus and Tamsin. He sees the good qualities of Tamsin instantly, and becomes quite protective of her.
We belong together. I knew it when I saw you, kicking ass at pocker and being all smug about it. When you got hurt because I chased you, I knew I'd move heaven and earth to get you well again. I mate-claimed you to save you from Dylan, but I'd have done it anyway, sooner or later. Dylan just gave me the excuse.

The plot and worldbuilding was fantastic, I really liked seeing these two try to survive while being on the run from those that want Tamsin for not so good reasons. And we get some new shifter characters we meet that I found so fun and maybe a future romance for one of my favorite side characters "ben"---I WANT his story so very badly. And of course we get some delightful interaction with Tiger of course, LOVE seeing him being an active participant through the series since he is my favorite all time character of the series.

I found the romance that builds between Angus and Tamsin to be so full of emotion and you find yourself captivated by their story. They are up against some bad odds, but stand together and the chemistry is off the charts. I loved ALL the feels we get from these two in learning and fighting to stay together and be mated. We also see the complexities from loner shifters and living in a shiftertown and the complex dynamics that cause some conflict in their story.

Overall I found Midnight Wolf to be such an amazing read and a quick trip through this wonderful world of shifters and humans and fae and the complexities of magic and science....ENTHRALLING!!!

Shifters Unbound, not a favorite but one I really like. Can sometime be great but usually only good.

Wow, this was really good. Usually J.A. puts in some trope that irritates me or one of the character is too... something that I don't like. But this time I didn't get that. I hated the way it started and the bad guy using his position to blackmail. I still think there should be some oversight there and it doesn't seem to have become any better except where Dillon in concerned. Having everything work under the table, understandable in war. But they haven't got there yet. Luckily it is a small part and the beginning because from there we get the magic house, I always loved that and the people that enter, Dillon being overhanded Dillon, running away to
Spoiler the circus
, how fun.

Then when they mate, information comes out and they have a problem to solve. I loved seeing
Spoiler Tiger
and then finding out more about the crafty fox and why they are different. It was new and interesting and the romance was pretty good too. I liked how they interacted. It clicked for me this time. Yea!

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

I so love this series. Everytime I meet a new character, I fall in love. Angus Murray is a wolf shifter and single dad. When Shifter Bureau comes and offers him a job he can’t refuse (as in they have his son), he goes on the hunt for a collarless shifter, Tamsin Calloway. He has know idea what is in store for him.

Tamsin has been on her own for a while now. She’s found that alone she can hide better. She’s already lost her sister and her mom is locked up in a shifter town. She can’t risk going to see her. Better to be alone. That is until she’s caught by Angus, or should I say a gator in the bayou that Angus pulls her from.

While, she understands his need to protect his son, capturing her isn’t endearing Angus to her. At least not at first. She quickly learns that Angus is all heart. He is willing to do what is necessary to protect her, even from Dylan Morrissey.

Angus’s son, Ciaran, is so sweet. I just love all the kids in this series. They all just steal my heart (though Olaf is still my favorite of all the kids). They are usually minor characters, but they play such a huge roll in the lives of those around them. I would love to read an anthology from all the different kids’ POV (**hint, hint**).

Well, we learn more about the fae. Lady Aisling makes an appearance and shares more about the fox shifters. We also get to see many characters from the past; Tiger, Sean, Dylan, Zander and Ben the goblin/troll. We even get to visit the sentient house in Louisiana. We even meet some new people, Dante and uncollared bear shifter who runs a traveling carnival and his mate, a half-fae, Celene, along with their daughter, Brina. Brina and Ciaran become fast friends.

I continue to love this series. While, I think you can follow along with the romance in this book without having read anything previous in the series, I think I would start with book one. There is a lot going on with the shifters, humans and fae. This part of the story can be complex and while it is explained, I don’t know if it is in enough detail to really grasp what is going on. I also think knowing some of the past characters, like Tiger and Dylan, which need to be explained more from the previous books.

Narration
I continue to love Cris Dukehart’s narration of this series. She has no problem with the evergrowing cast of characters. There are a few different accents in this series that she nails also. I mentioned how much I like the kids, she really does a great job with their voices as well. So many different ages throughout the series and she really makes me feel like I’m listening to actual children. She does a good job with male and female voices and I love her pace and tone. Whether its a sexy scene, sweet part or more action, she always uses the right pace to set the scene.

I received this book for free from Publisher, Tantor Audio in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Midnight Wolf is the story of Angus, the wolf shifter who bounces at a bar in New Orleans. We haven't really seen a whole lot of the New Orleans shifter town, so we are introduced to some new characters.

Angus is know as a great tracker and that is what brings Shifter Bureau to his doorstep. They want him to track a shifter who they have been unable to catch. Normally helping Shifter Bureau would be the last thing Angus would do, but they have taken his son, leaving him with no choice but to complete the job assigned to him.

We start to run into all kinds of problems when Angus does catch up with his quarry. Tamsin is fast, and sneaky. But there is also a pull between the two. After he catches her she has a medical need and Angus feels compelled to have her healed before turning her over to Shifter Bureau. But it keeps getting harder and harder to fight the urge to protect her. I was so excited during this period as they are hiding out at the sentient house and it does all kind of crazy things allowing certain people in and only certain people out. We also see some other shifters and possibly a goblin(?) come to help out Angus and Tamsin.

Angus is a smart wolf, and he starts to pull together a plan that can make both him and Tamsin happy. There starts a fantastic race across state lines. The more Angus tries to do to protect Tamsin, the more he realizes that she has secrets that have more than just Shifter Bureau chasing her down.

I loved the pace of Midnight Wolf. Tamsin is a great, fiery character that you can't help to love. Angus is the brooding, hard to read shifter that takes a little pushing to get his feelings known. You can't help but love him as well though. His past is so unhappy you just really cheer for him and Tamsin. Tamsin's human personality and abilities match her animal's so perfectly, making her a fiesty match for Angus.

The cover they choose for being on the run is such a great idea. Yet we still get to see an important shifter pulled in to help. I'm loving that about this series. I always get to see someone else from the series. I was a little surprised by one characters declaration of alliances, but then again, he is someone that cannot be led.

Midnight Wolf is a great, exciting story of a couple on the run, developing their romance along the way. Having Angus's son along for the ride does help bring the two a little closer and the family dynamic really made you root for this couple even more. It was truly a fun book!

The narration of Midnight Wolf was just as great as expected for a Cris Dukehart narration. I've loved her throughout this whole series. She does a wonderful job with the pacing and keeping the adrenaline pumping through the book. This review was originally posted on Rantings of a Reading Addict

Midnight Wolf had cute moments, especially Ciaran at the carnival, funny moments, and some suspense. I maintain that the overarching plot is currently the best part of the series. Yes, I liked Angus and Tamsin, but it is the larger plot developments that keep me coming back. I get the sense that Ben will be getting a story soon (or at least I hope so), and that Lady Aisling will become a larger character. As an aside, I didn't really care
Spoilerthe deus ex machina of her role.

3.5 stars for a unique PNR shifter world. Angus Murray is a tracker. His cub is being held by the Shifter Bureau and he is given no option but to hunt a female shifter. When he finds her, he cannot give her up. I think fans of Mercy Thompson will like this series.
