Wowww twisty, twisty, twisty. That’s really all I can even think because this … I don’t even know what to believe. Wild. Crazy. Last 50 got me.
Felt a lot like Rebecca. But creepier.

This book is fucked up.
Yes the ending was one hell of a plot twist but I don't know what I think of it.

At least this book made me understand trigger warnings..

Suspense is present in this novel; there are points where I feel I am on the edge of my seat. Also, I must admit there were moments when some of the scenes were told in such graphic detail that it was uncomfortable to read. Better character development would have helped the reader relate to the main character because
I think the readers would have understood why she stayed; we only got snippets of her past and thought process as a writer. We know she experienced/saw tragedies, but she was reading an autobiography-  something was presented as true, and she waited so long to act on it - I just felt something was missing

This is my first Colleen Hoover and will probably me my last. I've read a lot of dark books but this one was graphic in a way I did not expect. I highly recommend people check the trigger warnings before reading. Spoilers below:

The child abuse is graphic and directed at an actual infant in one situation. I don't even have kids and that was hard for me to get through.

So, when I started Verity, I was thinking, this isn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I thought, well I guess Colleen Hoover isn’t that bad of a writer. But then about halfway through, I was really struggling to continue. Maybe it’s because I already knew exactly what happened, but it didn’t feel very suspenseful to me?

I’ve recently started reading more mysteries and thrillers and I’m always so elated when I’m not in the loop, when I’m guessing about what happens next. Even knowing the plot of this book, the parts I found shocking weren’t related to the thriller part.
The most shocking part is when Lowen lifts her pelvis up to keep Jeremy’s sperm inside her? A man she’s only just met really?? Yuuuuuck.

I REALLY loved this book! I don’t typically read anything dark or mysterious, but this was pleasantly surprising. I was glued to this book the entire time and couldn’t set it down. However, I think the sexual content was way over the top, even as a regular romance reader. It kept me from giving this book 5 stars, as well as some parts that didn’t completely make sense, like
Jeremy still allowing Crew to be around Verity while thinking she murdered his daughter.
Otherwise, I loved the suspense of the book and thoroughly enjoyed it!
