This book really takes you into the fight of alcoholism and how it affects the family. At first I didn't like it but then it pulled me in through the characters and wanting to know how it ends up for them in this disease that can cause trauma to the family.

I think this one is just a bit too depressing for me. If I knew it ended happily, I think I’d push through, but reading other reviews makes me feel like i better stop now.

The writing is so interesting and the author narrating the audio is fantastic. I just think I’m not in the headspace for this one.

I should have stopped reading as soon as I started to question whether it was worth continuing...ie after the first chapter. Instead, I stuck around to the bitter end and I must say the abrupt ending was a complete disappointment.

I listened to the audiobook version of this. I think the author is the only person that could have possibly narrated this. There is no way another voice actor could have interpreted the main character and her jumbled thoughts! The narration is fantastic. The main character's anxiety definitely impacted my own anxiety. I also struggled with the character of David. He starts off seeming innocent enough, like he just wants to help. By the end, his character shifts dramatically and I lose all faith in him.

It seems like there is no real conclusion to this book. Maybe that is fitting because even for an alcoholic in recovery, there is never a conclusion to alcoholism.
