A great new series I'm excited to dive into. This first book of the series is about Callan and Merinus' romance.
I will say that, at first, I wasn't really a fan of Merinus. She kind of bugged me when she kept running from him, even though her body literally needed him. I can understand the fear, but to have the fear of that much hurting without him would be worse, I think. But then again, that could just be me wanting to get to the romance. :)
The other thing that I had a problem with, ironically, is how easily she "fell in love" with him. Although I had a problem with her running during her need, it seemed really random when she said she loved him. She was literally just running from him and not much happened in between to bring her to that point so it didn't make much sense.
Although this is an erotic romance, I know, I wish that there would have been a bit more building of their actual relationship too. They never once had a conversation that delved deep into each others past to reveal something about them that would cause them to break the barrier between lust and love. I don't know, it just seems like a necessary standard in romances to me and I missed it in this one. It seemed all lust and no love.
Not that I don't love a good sex scene, but there were so many in this one that they started to blend together and sound alike. They didn't do as much for me as a book that builds it up and up until it finally comes to an impasse. These just came one right after the other and it wasn't as exciting that way.
But, despite those few things, I did enjoy the book and kept turning the page. I will keep reading the next ones. I'm interested in Kane and Sherra's relationship too so I can't wait for the fourth book to find out more about their story!

Can someone please tell me how I keep reading books about things like MAGICAL SEMEN? I really should have known better based on book description, but it got so many good reviews from my fellow PNR fans *and* it's a year+ wait to get it on Paperback Swap. I have been misled!
I sort of doubt this next part is a a spoiler - and heaven forbid I RUIN anything! ;) - but j-i-c....

Maybe I am alone here, but concepts like "the only time you're not going to be driven absolutely apeshit with desire for a guy is when you're happily KNOCKED UP WITH HIS CHILD," referring to ladyparts as a C U Next Tuesday and thinking that's sexy, and a cast of people with a doctorate in use of the word "asshole" to describe each other...I mean, not so hot.sibley's review against another edition

This isn't hot, it's literally just misogynistic. There's a way to write these carachters that show him to be dominant, but this is just men being assohles and trying to figure out who can go the most neanderthal (when they're fully human). Also, characters change their wants and motives on a whim.

I was a bit disappointed with this one....I need a little more story and a little less sex and 'cunt' for me to like it. I will probably give the series another shot...eventually.
