New favorite! Sits right up there with The Hating Game for me. I read this a week ago and am now happily making my way through all of Lucy Score's works!

Overall this was a sweet read. The plot was good. I really loved the characters and side characters. Jake, the MMC, amazing in alllllllll the ways. Vicky, the FMC’s bff, she’s my kindred spirit.
I enjoyed the soccer aspect and how the team friendships and morale developed over time.
It all just felt a little juvenile, I don’t know how else to explain it. The FMC, really irritated me. Her constant whining and woe is me attitude was tiring.
The spice was written really well. Which is where I felt conflicted with it also feeling juvenile. Overall this was okay.

Of the three Lucy Score books that I own this is by far my favorite! The wit, humor, character dynamic, plot, and everything in between were perfect! It had the right amount of spice, and also made me look at my own life, and what I expect out of it. I got to dive deeper into the story of Marley and Jake explore their love, their trials, and overcoming of life expectations we often place on ourselves. And for my One Tree Hill fans, I think I may have found the book version of Brooke Davis (her adult years) lol.

Give this book a read, if you’re looking for something fun, romantic, funny, and realistic!

I definitely recommend this if you are interested in reading one of Lucy’s books and are a newbie to her writing style. It is also great if you are looking for a romance book with not too much spice in it!!!

Happy reading!

DNF @45%. Read like a stupid high school romance except the MCs were allegedly in their late 30s?!

No.

4 ⭐️ even. Here I am sitting at almost 34 thinking this is it, but Marley getting married at 38 to a hunk and coaching soccer like Ted fuckin Lasso gives me slight hope, lol. I still cried at the end like a fucking BABY, I had hoped since Libby entered the chat that THAT ending would happen. I needed a good romance after a couple hard reads and this delivered.
