I finished this book in less than a day. I’ve been in a reading slump for a while, and this is the first one I’ve picked up in a long time that I absolutely could not put down. The characaters were realistic and lovable and so easy to empathize with that it feels like you’re really stepping into the story and unraveling the mystery alongside them. I kept going back and rereading clues throughout the book to try and figure out the plot twist, but I still hadn’t guessed it by the end. The book handles sensitive themes in a way that both shows respect to victims and uses them as a major plot point to draw the readers in. I absolutely can’t wait to read the sequel.

Wow, this book really lived up to the hype. It was like a mish-mash of true crimes stories I’ve heard about meets Twin Peaks. The podcast format with a full-cast narration made for an excellent audio listen and the fast-paced intriguing reveals had me speeding through this one. I’ll definitely continue on with this series, although after this ending, I’ll be curious to see where it continues.

Ugh, I’m so glad I finally read this after years of it being recommended to me! It 1000% lived up to the hype. I loved the main characters, the fun formatting of the book, the writing, the humour, and the unpredictability of the plot. There were so many moving pieces in the story, and I think the author is a genius for how she made it work out so cleanly. The only reasons it’s not a full 5 stars for me are that (a) Pip can be a bit (very) ridiculously stubborn at times, and (b) I was never pushed to the point of tears or throwing my book. I still loved it and am very happy with the ending.

As always, the ending of the book interests me more than the first half of the book.

At first, it was really boring it made me fall asleep mid-reading. Mainly because of the mc's log documents. It's like reading reports (it was reports).  I like the mc's character that was very smart and brave. But I don't like the mc's love interest/partner. He was misogynistic. He wasn't really smart, brave, or a really amazing person either. The only reason he was interesting was because he sticked beside the mc's side.

I know the partner lost one of his beloved persons in his life and put everything to uncover the truth about his big brother but he forced the mc too "stay on the project" just when the mc lost one of her beloved things while in truth she did that to protect him too. I understand where he is coming from, but I don't like it.

The mystery really intrigued me to keep reading the book. The actual perpetrator wasn't too easily covered. I know many crime/thriller books that have an easy to guess plot twist and perpetrator, so this book was interesting enough to read until the end.

I think this book could actually become a stand-alone, but I guess the author just decided to continue it. I will read the complete series.

A pretty fun and enjoyable YA read despite the rather dark subject matter.

Sometimes I really enjoy a YA mystery and this one delivered for the most part. It did feel extremely unrealistic at times - why was everyone freely answering these questions from a teen girl doing a school project? And, if I'm honest, had I not been as far in and hooked as I was, I would have DNF'ed when
Barney was killed. I don't like animal death as a plot device.

But, overall, if you let yourself dive into the world and let the mystery unfold, it's a fun time! The full cast audiobook was a treat too. If you're looking for a true crime-esque YA romp with a FMC, it's an ideal read!
