i listened to this on a road trip, and it was awful, but i loved making fun of it with my mom. this bitch (the main character, not my mom) would not shut up about her murderer dad or the fact that shes not going to have kids. i predicted most of the ending, but not all of it!
give it a read if you need something to hate on. i enjoyed it

What I thought was going to be a quick read, turned out to be a slow read because the narrator’s voice (for audio) was awful in my opinion. It was like listening to a boring news anchor- no inflection, no emotion, just monotone the ENTIRE TIME! The concept was alright, but the voice definitely deflated the “mystery/thriller” aspect. What saved this book from being a DNF was the plot twist of “who done it”:
I had my money on Brady or Phillip but it was Harper who turned out to be her psychotic sister, who was pretending to be an admin/assistant to her and Phillip. Glad Brady was actually the good guy after all.

Eleven year old Nora had no idea that her father was murdering women in their basement until the police showed up at their door. Twenty six years later, she’s a well respected surgeon, and two of her patients wind up dead in the same brutal way her father carried out his slayings… but he’s in prison, right?

I’ll be honest, I am a little disappointed by the ending. Based on other Freida McFadden books, I thought I was going to be blown away by the plot twist, but it felt a bit random to me. There was so much potential. I enjoyed the past and present plot lines. But it felt like I was getting through almost all of the book before any real truths came to light. Not my favourite book of hers.

Love Freida’s writing! This isn’t as good (IMO) as the Housemaid but it kept me guessing until the end.

And the last page definitely added something I would have never guessed!

Can’t wait to read another one by her! ❤️
