Very beautiful story. Paul and Jack belong with and to each other. I cried a lot during reading, beautiful!

A beautifully written, extremely emotional short story about not realizing what you have until you've lost it. I cried, and cried...and cried...which is a good thing! ;)

I wished the story had been told from Paul's perspective; I think having him choose between his steady lover and his former best friend just come back in the picture and really the love of his life would have been more interesting... I think Paul had a hard choice to make and I would have liked to see how he made it.

That said... this is not the story. It is Jackson's perspective we have. A selfish guy who after thrashing the love his best friend gave him when they were kids has realized that he wants it now. I don't have a lot of tender feelings for him. I'm glad for Paul's that Jackson has come back to his senses, but I'm not sure choosing him is such a mature idea.

Now, I liked it, I always feel after writing something that I sound like I didn't like the read... So the narrator has flaws and he isn't this shining angel, I don't know a lot of people who are and that's probably why in the end I did feel for him and was happy he got his man.

I would've given it five but I felt like there was so much story missing. Still enjoyable.

25/6 - Starting this now (as in, in the middle of another book) because it's short and I'm very behind on my reading challenge and because I'm 'watching' footy with my dad and lights aren't allowed to be on while watching the footy, so *light bulb* eBook on my laptop. To be continued...

30 mins later - Good writing, good characters. I just wish so much of the story hadn't been spent in Jack's head, there's too much time spent with Jack berating himself for not realising his true feelings earlier and not enough face-to-face interaction between Jack and Paul. Definitely made me wish it had been made into a full length novel.

This was a sweet story of friends reunited. One is in love with the other when the other is in a relationship. It was sweet and I didn't feel any guilt about them ending up together because the boyfriend was a real jerk. Very cute.

I kind of enjoy seeing people suffer for their bad decisions, so if you like that too maybe you will enjoy this story of a man who tries to get back his best friend's love after rejecting him years before.
