I absolutely loved all the excitement and adventures of the romance with Laura and Jeremy. I thought the action was moderate and very entertaining. The characters are charming and funny. The romance was kind, sweet and very intimate.

How I loved this book! And this entire series! The writing is gorgeous, the characters so alive, the plot captivating and everything contributed to a gorgeous reading experience. I adored Jeremy, the quiet and shy code breaker who hides a passionate soul and a dark secret. Cinnamon rolls are not usually my kind of heroes, but I can make exceptions for intriguing spies! And Laura is really my kind of heroine, bold and unafraid to get what she wants in life and love. I’m not missing a book by Susanna Craig ever again! (I also recommend the audiobook, because the narrator is very, very good!)
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think this series is the romance equivalent to Cozy Mysteries - a Cozy Romance series.

I still appreciate the things Craig does well: no outrageous misunderstandings, no rambling internal dialogs in lieu of character/plot development. It's starting to grate that none of the main characters ever have FRIENDS. They may have family, staff, or coworkers, but never actual friends. (Dear reader, IRL this is a Red Flag!)

Catherine at SmartBitches called book one: "low-tension and low-conflict while still having plenty of story and heart to keep you reading." Book three is higher-tension, and it caused me to consume it more slowly. (It's still low-tension compared to other books in the genre!) I'm still looking forward to book 4, whenever it is released.

Audiobook narrator Esther Wane still gets 5 stars.

The best part of this one was how well it built off the previous novels, particularly the last. The heroine was so much fun and there were some ridiculous but beautifully executed tropes (fake marriage in regency England for the win, lol). Definitely silly fun but succeeds in what it says it does.

This is a great installment in the series. I liked both of the main characters and their families. Light, short and very enjoyable.

I liked this fun short novel. Both MC are interesting and I like how their relationship developes though I had some issues with the pacing of it (first very slow and than really fast). There was also sometimes a bit too mich suspension of disbelive necessary for me, but overall I had a fun time.

General Scott's meddling matchmaking strikes again. Admittedly, the spicy scenes were loads better than the awkward and clunky scenes in the first two books in the series. I'm really enjoying the small background plot line connecting the books and again, General Scott - my main guy - is the gem. I would probably pay lots for a book on how he and his lovely wife met.

Think Robin Hood but make him a young woman from the upper class of a regency romance. In Better Off Wed, Susanna Craig plays with the reluctant allies/fake marriage tropes, bringing together a young woman who has been acting the part of a vigilante and gotten in over her head with a young man trained as a spy for the crown. The two realize the only way either of them will achieve their goals is by working together, and they slowly grow to love each other despite themselves.
Craig creates the exact type of semi goofy regency romances I want. The relationship is written well enough that I’m fully invested in the character’s happiness, and the plot is dramatic enough to be a lot of fast paced fun without ever feeling rushed or overwrought. That’s a difficult balance to achieve!
Better Off Wed is the third installment in a four part series focusing on different spies in the King’s service. As with most romance series you don’t really need to read them in order, but I have yet to find one in the set that doesn’t hold up. If anything, each has been better than the last.
