Finally- a Bridgerton man who at least owns up to being a whiny, little jerk! Colin has his moments but is so much better than his brothers and brother-in-law. Penelope may be my new favorite Bridgerton. I love her spirit and the fact that she will willingly shout in her husband’s face when he’s being a pig. The best Bridgerton couple yet! Can’t wait to read #5!

Colin And Penelope's story was something I was never expecting to be as enthralling as it had been. I had never read any of the previous books, only watched the Netflix series that mainly feature the love story of Daphne and Simon, and Penelope was--and remained-- one of my favourite characters. Colin, on the other hand, was quite boring to me, so I was pleasantly surprised to see such development with his character's personality.
In the book, you could see how the thirty-three Colin Bridgerton slowly burned for the twenty-eight Miss Penelope Featherington. A woman considered stuck on the shelf. And how Penelope gradually evolved from that small little wallflower to a woman proud of her small anonymous accomplishment.
Colin had many very immature moments, I will admit but that immaturity was something I think many could relate to. The yearning for finding your purpose and the desire to explore more than what you were given. Watching your brothers and sister's life can make you see how yours is unfolding. But, seeing how worried he could get for Penelope was everything that I could hope for in my future. His charms were maxing out when it came to her. His anger, if that's what you wanted to call it, was quite funny at times because the cause for his temper flaring up was mere frustration. Frustration that Penelope would put herself in danger. Because it terrified him.
There were many things I enjoyed about the book.
One would be this quote: "I love you with everything I am, everything I’ve been, and everything I hope to be. I love you with my past, and I love you for my future. I love you for the children we’ll have and for the years we’ll have together. I love you for every one of my smiles, and even more, for every one of your smiles", Colin Bridgerton loves intensely and shows how one should be loved.
And that reveal scene was so adorably cute you couldn't hate it. (Though if I were Penelope I would have run.)

I adored reading Penelope & Colin's story, I promise I did, but I got whiplash reading this novel! Of course, there was the infamous lack-of-communication trope, but the constant back-and-forth between extreme emotions was even worse. Colin goes from anger to lust in a heartbeat throughout this novel. Every time this happened, it drew me out of the story.
Spoiler
Colin learns that Penople is Lady Whistledown, and he is enraged! He complained of Lady Whistledown writing about his "effortless charm" and wished the world knew him for something other than his name and personality. Finding out the woman he was falling in love with was Lady Whistledown angered him beyond words! But... a mere 15 minutes after discovering her identity... Colin & Peneople nearly have sex in a carriage. Then they get married, Lady Whistledown is revealed, and everyone had a happy ending.alliesbooks's review against another edition

All of these books are very fun to read. I’m excited to see how they will have this one translate over to the show.
