This had so much unexpected depth and really surprised me with its story arc. It starts as a coming of age, teenage angst story and blossoms into a well lived life of love, tragedy, grief, family, friendships, careers, sudden illness, and choices. Excellent!

I knew it was coming, but it hurt so bad. What an amazing book, I loved learning more about Jace as a person and what an amazing one he was!

I want to say it took me so long to finish this book because I was under the weather for a few days, but honestly I think it was because I knew Jace was going to die and wanted to prolong his life. I loved getting to know teenage/college Jace, when he wasn’t so sure of himself and seemingly perfect. I went into this thinking I would hate Victor but I grew to like his uniqueness. I was shocked that he ended up committing suicide...I did not see that as the end of their relationship. Jace and Ben were even more adorable in this version, because there was less Tim drama to read about. This book had more interaction between the two, which is what I wanted more of in Something Like Summer. Jace’s death was even more gut wrenching this time around 😩 Can we have an alternate version where he lives and him and Ben grow old together??

Pretty much the exact same issues as I wrote in my review of the first book. The weird squicky feeling of profiting off of "bury your gays" trope... and yeah. More or less the same.

Just got to resign myself to the fact that any character I wholeheartedly adore in a Jay Bell book will die.

This just reinforces my love for Jace! Such a kind, patient and loving guy. I read 30 pages in 2019 and only started reading seriously in january. I don’t know why it took me so long to finish it, I just didn’t want to get to the end because I knew how it would end after reading Something like Summer. I don’t remember everything about the first novel but this one made me dislike Tim so much! I’m gonna read Something like winter and maybe he’ll redeem himself, we’ll see haha. Jace deserved the world but at least he got what he always wanted, he died with the one he loved by his side.

It didn't matter that I knew a part of Jace's story. It didn't matter that I knew how it ends. It still hurt so fucking much.

But, you know, a good kinda hurt and all that.

It's taken me 6.5 years to finally screw up my courage and read this second book in the series.
SpoilerJace's death in the first did me in totally!

Even knowing how it ends, my heart is shredded... again.
