I've always been a big fan of the cyberpunk genre (At the time of writing this, I have spent eight months on Cyberpunk 2077 and have only just breached what could be considered the arc before the endgame). I think in addition to being a neat aesthetic filled with neon and paranoid conspiracies, the questions inherent to it about corporatocracy and fascism, man and machine, etc. are some of my favorites. What I find so interesting is how Neuromancer codified the formula for the genre and there has been almost no deviation from it since. The fascination with Japan, traversing the matrix, the sentient AI and abundance of cybernetic implants and fashion that value style over practicality, it's all here along with an exciting techno-thriller plot with some really cool characters. Gibson's writing works really well here too, he does such a good job of naturally drawing you into the world and the way he will jump from a mundane conversation or event to intense action after it's already begun keeps you on your toes in such a smart way. Very cool read and piece of sci-fi history.

It felt like reading gibberish, and it made little to no sense.

This was a difficult read with an impenetrable plot. I could not tell who was who or who was a real person and who was digital. I can see the influence this book had on future stories about computers, AI, and hackers.

A visceral Sci- fi noir that, in spite of some confounding description, rips the reader through the story with purpose and grit.
