SWEEP is much better.

Tried a little too hard to be mysterious. Piles and piles of characters that I’m supposed to be suspicious of. But when it was revealed what they were doing, it was kinda just shrugged off. It was a little exhausting. A lot left unresolved at the end. Like, the whole plot except for the romance. Eh.

I read this years ago and somehow remembered it just this morning. I remember I liked it, but not much else about it. Should probably reread if I find it again.

That can't be how it ended... Like really, what happens with Thais and Cilo? I'll write a review later...
2/25 I have lowered the rating of this book 3 times!!! but I could barely make myself read it.

I like stories that are purely one supernatural being. I love witches a lot. I bought this at a thrift store without any idea if i would like it or not. I loved it. The last part seemed really rushed and open to another book being written but i guess she gave up on the series. Going to find get other series and try her other writing.

Unknown they are sisters two identical girl one dragged to the mystery of witchcraft while the other gifted with magic. This two sisters get dragged into ancient drama from old time connected to their family. One girl is the good one and the other will bring nothing but darkness or disaster. A book that gets your attention if one is into witchcraft or like witches and all that mystery of magic they use. This books is a must read. My sister actually recommended it to me and I loved it. If your like romance in your books this has it and it will bring your jaw's to the ground when one reads it.

I was a little disappointed with the ending, but it was overall a good book.

This book has the complete series to Balefire, which at first I wasn't aware of, but soon after reading was pleasantly surprised and pleased because once I finished the first part, I wanted the complete series.

I wasn't sure how I was going to enjoy this series because I haven't read anything that was a mix with paranormal/witches/magic, and didn't think I would have much interested in a book like this, but I was wrong! Once I finished reading Balefire, I wanted to read more of Cate Tiernan's books because this was a fantastic series that left me wanting to know more about Thais and Clio's life that in a way, had yet to begin.

It's a lengthy read, but I didn't lose interest. While it was mainly focused around Paranormal, Fantasy, and Witchcraft; it balanced wonderfully with romance in the mix and the triangle that occurs that wasn't expected. The characters and story progressed at a good pace, there wasn't a let down in either area.

If you aren't one that like the magic/witch genre, you may want to give this series a chance because I was wary at first myself, but was very surprised once I started reading and came to love another genre that I should have given a chance a while ago.

I really like Cate Tiernan's Sweep series, so I expected to like this series more. The writing style and characters were great, but the plot and resolution left much to be desired. With all the books in the same set like this it was easy to see the numerous errors and plot differences from one book to the next. None of the books have much in the way of action, and the climax of each story is...well...anticlimactic. If they weren't all together I'm not sure I'd have read the last three books. The first three endings provided no resolution, but I figured the last one would have to. It didn't. I have so many unanswered questions about this series and none of the really important things were wrapped up - the series just ended. It was like she got tired and gave up on the characters, which is a shame because I really liked the twins, Petra, Luc, Richard and Claire. The others were pretty flat, but still interesting.

I finally read this series after loving the Sweep series growing up and I'm disappointed with it. At times it felt fantastic but more often it felt very much like I was being told there were plots around rather than being shown them. The end of the series comes about very quickly and quite Deus ex machina without any real satisfaction. I devoured the four books in three days partly because of their blistering pace which is at times good but also means, as I've seen other reviews comment, that we have two heroines fall in love at first sight which leaves the reader with whiplash. There's nothing satisfying about the relationships because there's no time to develop them as the whole series seems to take place in the space of two weeks. It's a shame because the premise is interesting but the character motives are so hollow. I don't really believe that the girls would have done what they did in the final book nor am I clear on the conclusion.
