I’m gonna be honest, I read this book because I saw a very bad review about it on tik tok. And I though: “I’m gonna love this”. I didn’t even know what the book was about

Wow.

This was a fantastic book. Jade West did not shy away from anything at all, her boldness sweeping me away as her reader. Initially, I was prepared for a sappy, stereotypical age-gap trope where the guy is filthy rich, and the girl is kind of a bimbo but wants to have her own mind.

My assumptions could not be further from the truth. Julian is wonderfully broken. Jade developed his character expertly, giving him so many delicious layers and facts that made him so real, I felt like I could reach out and grab the lapels of his suit jacket.

Rosie, sweet Rosie. Excellent MFC, whose responses and POV were consistent with not only her age but the trauma she endured.

The spicey scenes were SPOOOIIIICCCEYYY! They touched all the right buttons.

So, if you enjoy age gaps tropes but with very realistic characters, delving deep into the psyche of two people just trying to find love and acceptance while also wanting to get you kink/bdsm bank filled - READ IT!

Not going to lie this book shocked the shit out of me, in the beginning.  I almost thought to shelf it.  I thought I finally found a book that was too much for me to handle.   Glad I didn’t!  Please note you need an open mind to read this.
There is no abusing or predator behavior from the main male character Julian.  The females are all over the age of 18.  With that being said age gap is huge.  This did not bother me, but I know some people feel strongly about it.  This isn’t for the faint of heart.  There’s a reason why my spicy level is rated this high.  Main male character Julian is into some pretty kinky fuckery.  This is the spiciest book I’ve ever read; that says something.  I have been reading spicy books for fifteen years, and this without a doubt is the spiciest of them all.

Want to clarify that Julian is a one woman man after he meets the main female character Rosie.  In the book Julian does cheat on his wife, but so does she.  Remember it takes two to fail a marriage.  My take away was both of them were bored.  If cheating is a trigger do not read this book!

Writing:  The author did an exquisite job writing this book.  Took a character from creepy and disturbing to the exact opposite.  How that is possible is through first person.  Point of view is also dual, so both Rosie and Julian perspective.  The book is very descriptive. Dialogue is smooth and engaging.

Plot:  The book is set in England and centers around a couple with a 30 year age difference.  He’s 48 and she is 18.  They live in the same apartment complex.  They encounter each other when Rosie knocks on Julian’s door in desperation to save her mother from being beaten to death.  Disgraced ex university professor Julian comes to her rescue.  And this gets the ball rolling.

Characters:  The main characters complete their arcs.  Side characters are whole characters.  But that’s not what makes these characters unique.  It’s how the author turns a mentally unhealthy and morally gray character into a hero - Julian.  A weak and demur character into a strong and unrelenting protagonist - Rosie.

Read trigger warnings this book is full with them!  Other than that would I recommend reading this book?  To veteran romance readers only.

I just couldn’t crave it the age gap isn’t like child abuse but it’s just to much and he is to much.
