I don't remember any language and there definitely aren't any romantical notions, but the dudes are pretty dudish. Fantastical adventure combined with teenage sloth. Hand it to fans of Gordon Korman's realistic guy fiction.

I actually am not sure if I can rate this book. I liked the premise but I stopped after about 50 pages cause I got annoyed at how stupid the teens were being. I might give it another shot when I have more patience.

I really didn't find this book as good as Mr. Hartinger's books. I felt like it was a lot of whining teenagers. I also didn't feel like it had the same flow that the author is know for.

This was another gem from the ALSC conference I attended several months ago, so thank you HarperTeen for treating us librarians to such great books! When I first read the summary, I immediately thought of my brother. He's fifteen and this sounded exactly like something he would try and plan.
When I finally got around to reading it, I wish I had started it sooner. This book was hilarious and had me turning pages to see what the next Project Sweet Life plan would be. The best part was that none of it ever felt like it was unrealistic-I really believed that the crazy adventures and money schemes could actually work!
Author Brent Hartinger has the perfect voice of teen boys. His characters sounded exactly like the teen boys I know. This would make a great pick for reluctant readers but is still a great treat for those who love reading. I can't wait to share this with my teens.

Nicely written but too unrealistic and predictable to really like.

Set in Tacoma, 3 boys are told by their fathers that they need to get summer jobs instead of the goofing off they had planned. Instead, they decide to come up with one big project to net them the money they would gain by working all summer. Some interesting Tacoma history and lots of unbelievable exploits with funny, likeable characters.

Sad to say, I was a little disappointed in this book.

Maybe it was just my lack of being able to suspend my disbelief (like when the narrator proudly announces to the reader that he and his friends are all licensed divers).

Yes there was conflict, but it was all resolved way too easily. And the odds that something like this could ever happen? Nil. Not once did I think that something bad was going to happen to these kids. It was lacking suspense, which is something I crave.

The writing was great, as always, and I look forward to the next Brent Hartinger book, but this one bordered on ridiculous for me. Sorry!
