The tired zookeeper is making his rounds, checking that all the animals are safe for the night and saying goodnight to each. Unbeknownst to him, the mischevous little monkey has stolen his keys and, following the zookeeper, unlocked the animals one by one. They all follow the zookeeper into his house where, tired from the day, doesn't notice all the animals in his bedroom. But when he says goodnight to his wife, there are many choruses of goodnight in return. The zookeeper's wife is startled and must return all the animals to the zoo.

Cute story, especially for very young children. There aren't many words at all, and the illustrations are nice. A good introduction to different animals and the pictures of them in the bedroom are quite amusing.

A winner for kids who are learning to tell stories and interact with books. Cute and funny.

This book is playful with it's simple plot and limited words. The illustrations also jump off the page, which adds to the silly tone. Readers will enjoy the gorilla's scheming and giggle at the ending.

For: gorilla/zoo animal fans; reader wanting a silly bedtime book.

Possible red flags: mischievous characters.

I love how vibrant the colors are in the illustrations and that there are no words, encouraging creativity.

I appreciate this book better a few years later. It's growing on me. :)

What a cute book. Stories like this are fun for the kids because of all the animals they can point and call things what they are while you’re reading.

Both my little ones, a boy and a girl, love this book. It's beautifully illustrated, very funny and the words are simple enough for young children to point out say 'Good night'.

My daughter and I laugh super hard when the zookeepers wife wakes up.
